The Furious 8.5/10 Pure action only: 10/10 I walked in the door an action aficionado and it was outstanding. Some of the cast of The Raid: Redemption is in it and a few unique scenes and environments they used for the action. Two co-protagonists or main characters one is a Chinese mute with a daughter. Don't want to spoil it but it currently has 90+ percent reviews from fans and critics on Rotten Tomatoes and after the Wick films, it's one of the best action movies this decade.
Backrooms 7.5/10 Knew nothing about the social media phenomenon, only watched this because Chiwitel Ejiofor is in it and he didn't disappoint. Good movie with a very unsatisfying third act but I'll definitely be watching the next one. Obsession 9/10 ****ing hilarious. This might be the best movie out right now. Every young dude should watch it lol, my son is 11, and I'm honestly considering letting him watch it lol. The ending is what it is, but actions have consequences, be careful what you wish for lol
One of the worst real life stories you'll ever hear: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Travis_(chimpanzee) ...and then https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-29237276 ...there is more Never, ever, ever keep wild animals as pets.
Avatar: Fire and Ash. It was better than The Way of the Water. I found that very surprising. Apparently parts of Avatar 4 and 5 have been completed but both are still several years away.
Fight or Flight. I was surprised I actually enjoyed watching this movie, it felt like Bullet Train on a plane. It was silly, it had ridiculous over the top action, and a good enough plot. 8 out of 10 if you are an action fan.
"I have never seen that film, and by all accounts it is terrible. I have seen the house that it bought, and it's terrific." -- Michael Caine on Jaws 4 Jaws3 is hilariously awesome, btw.
I watched it not knowing anything about the movie other than the critical acclaim. It was a really good movie. I looked it up after I watched it and was pleasantly surprised it was written by the guy who wrote The Martian. The guy knows how to write an enjoyable story. Both movies were long but never felt that way because the plot moves so fluidly.
I'll be honest, I'm a huge action fan and a seasoned martial artist. I'm halfway through the movie and I'm disappointed. This feels more Jackie Chan in modern times without the charm than it does the Raid. Lots of kung fun choreography that just doesn't click for me, feels like moves for the sake of moves. I was really looking forward to it, and when I was watching it I was just not engaged.
Everyone has a right to their opinion. I'm huge longtime action movie and martial arts movie fan and I enjoyed it. To each their own, all good.
