Glad to know you're enjoying mediocrity. This is your opinion. My opinion is CJ will never be able to bring a Lombardi to Kirby and because of this the Texans should move on. Go Cary Go.
Should we cut Stroud and start Mills? Should we tank the season and draft another QB? What would you do?
It’s so crazy that his first season was MVP level and now it’s come to this. I might be in the minority but the talent is still there. What he did in his rookie season is hard to do in the nfl. Idk, we’ll see but I’m expecting a bounce back season.
How does the NFL work? When's the latest we could theoretically trade Stroud? Do we get a compensatory pick if we just let Stroud walk?
I like Davis Mills. But how is Mills exempted from guiding by far the worst period in recent franchise history? The entire book of CJ Stroud is written off 2 games. (Fair, it's 2 big important games). Though entire 2 SEASONS, 10 times more games of below average/bad Davis Mills "doesnt count on record"? If Mills was "that" guy who can lead a Super Bowl winner, how come instead of competing for a starting job for another team, he keeps sticking around in Houston re-upping as a backup? I'd LOVE IT if Mills is a unique success to Texans. But is he really being appreciative of the Texans, doing them a solid as late blooming jewel? Or is it simply that his real level is limited to being a mop-up duty backup?
Ride with CJ this season and look at drafting a QB in the 2027 draft if CJ doesn't show great improvement. I would give up future picks to draft a QB in the QB rich 2027 draft. What I would've done is trade CJ this offseason for a 2027 1st and used that 1st plus the Texans 2027 1st and rgw Texans 2028 1st to move up and draft a young QB. I would also bring Mills back as the starting QB in 2027 while the newly drafted QB Why would you pay a QB if he can't bring a Lombardi to Kirby?
This is the most reasonable comment I have heard from you. CJ is under contract for TWO seasons after exercising the 5th year option and we still have the Franchise Tag available after that. And after three years, he's still younger than a significant part of the most recent draft. There is NO REASON to cut him. Even if you give up on him (prematurely in my opinion), he still has trade value.
He’s not. His 2025 was better than 2024. Let’s see what he does this season with an actual running game for the first time in his career.
We could still do that at the end of this season if CJ misses games with concussion problems again, or doesn't show he has what it takes to not choke in big moments.
I think you have to ride it out this season with CJ and see what he does. I'm pretty sure if he has a good season, he can be franchise tagged while a contract gets worked out. Got to dance with who you brought to the prom. Unless it's your cousin.
