I realize it’s going to be tough to move FVV, but what is his role on this team? Does he slide back in as starter? Who subs for him, Smart or Reed? He’s certainly going to need reduced minutes, so would it be better to have him off the bench? Would he come in ahead of Reed? I’m having a hard time seeing Reed get much more than Okogie’s 17mpg if Fred is still on the team, and I don’t think that’s the direction we should be going.
The Rockets would get a TPE equal to KD's salary. As the Rockets will likely be either over the 1st apron or close enough to it, KD's matching salary is basically his own salary as is as doubtful the Rockets will have much space under 1st apron to use under the 1st apron rules. Granted, I find it funny that the Nets 27 pick, Suns 27 pick, and the Rockets 27 ping pong balls if they miss the playoffs are treated as worthless (or near worthless) by Stone haters, but a Detroit late 2027 pick is treated as irreplaceable and a fireable offense if the Rockets don't get it. Also, I have no idea how Detroit could match salary.
Most of the discussion involved Tobias Harris but I think most didn't realize he was a free agent at seasons end. He could be used in a S&T where he makes up the bulk of the necessary $$ to make the deal work with subsequent years being team options .... with the possibility of routing him elsewhere since the Rockets have no use for him. I'd prefer a better return that Tobias Harris ....

I would give FVV, DFS, 2028 rocket pick, 2029 Phoenix pick, 3031 Houston pick for trey, jones (or other filler). I would then re-sign Tari. Try and trade Kd to Charlotte into their trade exception for 1 frp (2 if you could get it).
I don’t know how true this is because I don’t trust the reporter anymore But if it is, I think I would consider doing a deal with them. Assuming a sign in trade for Duren is off the table they do have the contracts and all their draft picks. If we could get Isaiah joe and 2 of asur, Robinson and levert ( plus some draft compensation) The salaries and value, I think are there if they’re motivated to do a deal
I’m struggling a bit with this too. I’d definitely trade in for Duren in a SNT, but for those contracts and a few picks? I’m not sure it’s worth it.
The answer to the thread question is a couple 1sts from Detroit…preferably far out into the future. salary matching: Duncan Robinson $16 (non-guaranteed) Caris Lavert $15 (expiring) Ron Holland $9 (expiring w/ team option)
yah Duren and sengun would be a good foundation to face Wemby for the future but picks and Isiah joe / contracts might make sense too
I've watched a few DET fan podcasts and they're salivating at a trade for KD. Most of the discussions are around 3 of Holland, Robinson, Levert or Huerter and 2 1sts. However, there are also some discussions about 3-team trades with Duren involved. They don't want to give up Ausar, but reuniting the twins, adding more shooting, and some additional draft capital would be an interesting move. Robinson has a valuable contract because only 2M is guaranteed this year and none next, Huerter's contract averages $9M for next three years and is guaranteed, but while Robinson is a deadeye 40% 3pt shooter, Huerter has a better all-around game and is 27, compared to Robinson's 32 years. Isaiah Joe is also 27 and has 2 years and roughly $22M guaranteed. If we could pull-off something that brings Ausar, Robinson (need his money to make it work I believe), Joe (or Huerter as fallback) and 2 future 1sts say somewhere in 2028-32 range I'd do it. By bringing Ausar to HOU, I would hope we gain some favor with them on contract negotiations, but we give Ime another defensive stud. Robinson's marksmanship would be an added bonus, some backup to Bogdan, or a valuable trade salary. Joe is the kind of SG that could be a major plus to our rotation. DET is also looking at Trey Murphy hard, so if we want to take advantage of KD's value now we need to be working the phones with all the interested teams.
S Making a deal for your best player (KD) with a team (Det) that did a better job at rebuilding than you did. Get Stone TFOH!
Get Ausar at all costs….. Durant for whatever to bring Ausar in. Integrating the telepathy of the twins, will be transcendent. Going to need to put shooters and finishers around them, but it will allow us to play in so many different ways.
Ausar Duncan Robinson Whatever else to match. Levert is useful. I wish they had not traded Stewart. I would do that straight up for KD but if they want to throw in a draft pick then that’s great. Conversely, I would also throw in a first rounder if that is what it took to get done.
