I went to the Egypt/Australia World Cup game on Friday....It was probably 70% Egyptian and 30% Aussie crowd. Everybody was getting along nicely and having fun, enjoying the match, respecting each other, congratulating each other after goals or good goalie saves. I got this feeling of "damn, this is humanity at is finest."

Enter a row of American meatheads in Team USA jerseys, no stake in the match whatsoever, probably came into some tickets and decided to go. One of them, out of nowhere and with no provocation whatsoever starting spewing the loudest most racist s*** against the Egyptian players and fans. Aussies and Egyptians alike in the section shouted back at him to STFU.

Fans of the host country were the only ones acting like classless pieces of s***. Absolutely embarrassing. It was Dallas and they are always the worst, but still.

Referee Rafael Claus' mistake was corrected. This was the correct move -- which is why an independent body at FIFA made the ruling, and followed FIFA's guidelines in so doing.

An independent body made a ruling, yet you credit Trump for calling FIFA. So what is it? If it was truly independent, then no call or call from Trump would have made any difference.

We had to advocate for our position -- apply pressure. Otherwise there's no impetus for FIFA to move. Trump did just that -- and it worked brilliantly.

Embarrassing move by Fifa, but the crying from Belgium is ridiculous. Being mad that you didn't get an advantage for to a play that had nothing to do with you is just ridiculous.

And congrats to Trump if his call did make a difference. As long as he didn't bribe them, it was always worth the shot.

Perfect game for the overly dramatic feminine euro poors.

    Floppers. Fakers.

    Lots of complaining.

Allowing the refs that much power. Just like their governments.

The irony of Balogun being a birth right citizen is astounding.

    Stephen Miller isn’t a fan.

My fellow americans hypocrisy knows no bound. Btch and moan about keeping politics and sports separate, but cheers for it when trumps personally intervenes in contacting fifa as the leader of our country.

Its a bad look for our country. Should have just accepted the punishment gracefully. There are proper channels to appeal a red card, the president should not have gotten involved.

If a world leader like America could change/ influence an international sport event by applying political pressure it ruins the legitimacy and spirit of fair competition. Not that any of this matters to magatards

My reply to a different thread below:

    Two things.
    1) It was a horrible call.
    2) Regardless of me being an American supporter. The red card should not have been rescinded. Regardless of whether it was a bad call you cannot change suspension rules on the fly. Even if this was on the up and up, it reeks of medaling. there will always be that nagging thought that someone pulled a powerplay card.

God forbid the USA somehow wins the cup; there will be an * to it like the 2017 Astros.
don't want to win like this.

I will say this incarnation of the American team is so much different than teams in the past. Old days they used to just try for a long pass from their zone trying to get lucky play from it. always giving the ball away in their defensive zone.

This crew seems to be a much better passing team, and not as much panic to get the ball out of the zone.
Poch had a tough go of it when he took this team over, but his methodology has taken root, and the results are quite noticeable.
