Try it, I'll personally refund you if it's not up to your standards. I bought four 2lb'ers and they have all given up the ghost.
It would be but I mean between 12 or so people...lol. Nothing like a 3 day weekend to get you back on point.
store bought potato salad is honestly something I could never see myself buying, but you got me intrigued There’s no raisins in it, right?
The HEB yellow potato salad tastes basically like every homemade potato salad I've ever had. Its good. It crosses one thing off the list to make for the party.
We'll have to give this a try next holiday. Other than ground turkey and coffee, HEB is my #1 for all groceries.
I have both a Central Market and a new HEB that opened up fairly close. I've been ignoring their deli chicken salad but not for long. I don't shop at either normally. Anyone know anything about HEB chicken salad and if it's good? Or, do they have fresh made and prepackaged?
Store bought potato salad is always ass. They always go way too hard with the mayonase and you end up picking solid chunks of potato out of a sludge pit of mayo. The correct ratio involves a very light coating on the potatoes, no more. You shouldn't see open puddles of mayo in the bowl. I think it must somehow be a cost thing for the store brands? I can tell from looking at the photo that it wouldn't pass muster with me. Of course, you do you. If you love it, more power to you and the Butt family.
I'm not sure it applies in every instance, but at the HEBs near me they use the "chicken salad" as a vehicle to recycle their left over rotisserie chickens from the day before. I tried it a few times before figuring it out. It doesn't taste quite right to me.
Funny seeing this thread pop up given that I just tried this for the first time a couple weeks ago. I normally go with mustard flavored Hill Country Farms potato salad, but gave this a try instead. Turns out I prefer HCF and it's not particularly close. This is just way too thick, creamy, and rich for me. It's good for a few bites but then I feel like I'm eating butter.
I can tell you right now without tasting it that this is not the best damn potato salad I've ever had. In fact, it looks disgusting (and that's the best picture they could get for their website!). Just not my style (german potato salad ftw), but lots of people do love mayo with potatoes, so rock on.
Clarification needed...after a few beers with bbq fresh off the pit it's the best store bought potato salad I've ever had. It's not beating great grandma's fossilized receipt but everyone was more than satisfied. I'd buy it again if making from scratch isn't an option.
