Players don’t get paid by the teams during a strike/lockout. If an entire season is cancelled those players with guaranteed contracts just lose that year’s pay; the contracts do not get extended a year.
Yep, if that happens it sucks for guys like Altuve and Walker on the tail end of their careers. The way Altuve’s contract is structured that’s a huge loss for him. Walker isn’t getting another significant deal after this one either. I’m sure the Astros definitely would love not paying Altuve and Javier next season. Depending how Walker finishes this season, they might like not paying him as well.
The Red Sox suck at home because they built a lineup with zero power in a park that is built for power hitters, particularly those that hit right handed. Just dumb ass roster construction by them.

One year ago Astros did this at Dodgers stadium on the 4th of July, breaking the record for most runs given up at Dodger stadium. It was the high point of last season. After this win the wheels promptly fell off, they nosedived and never recovered.
If there’s going to be a cancelled season for your favorite team, ideally it happens in a year where they have aging overpaid players and their best prospects are 2+ years away. Not that there’s ever good timing for a lockout, but Houston is pretty well positioned if there is one. I’m content for the Astros to burn upper level prospects and whatever money they have trying to win with Altuve, Correa, and Yordan this year (and next year if there’s a season). Their farm is shaping up to be very very good in the lower levels and as long as they don’t borrow from that they should have another good young team forming by 2029 (although extremely unlikely to be as good as 2015-2022),
Very odd to swap Meyers with Dezenzo. Commits to Matthews as the CF against LHP unless they start playing Smith in CF. I do want to see how Dezenzo can perform as the short side of a LF platoon with Wade. I wonder how much the July performances of Trammell and Wade will influence Houston’s decisions at the trade deadline.
So the new #1 threat to Yordan for MVP is Caminero. And we ain't helping out the situation to keep him back. 26 HRs/56 RBIs .946 OPS vs 28 HRs/63 RBIs 1.067 OPS Way too big of a gap in OPS to have Caminero seriously overtake Yordan, so really safe for now (see 2025 AL MVP race).
