sometimes i think folks want this team to win so they can talk smack to their buddies or something,,, lol It's like they dont realize there's gonna be more crappy years than good... There's 30 teams... if we're in the top 3rd - then im a happy guy... If we make the playoffs I'm ecstatic - bc then anything can happen... Folks seem all twisted if we're not one of the favorites to win it all... "Oh we cant beat OKC or SAS so we oughta just give up!" welp, i've seen a #6 seed Rockets team hoist the trophy! As long as our guys play hard and leave it all on the court... I'm cool wit it!
who cares if I think the rockets moves aren’t that bad? Nobody is telling you you can’t criticize or want better players. I very specifically said there is a difference between someone who will watch no matter what and someone who will ONLY watch when their team is good. If you’re not the latter, you shouldn’t be offended.
I I agree. It’s not about the team doing well, it’s about their pride. If we aren’t good enough, they don’t feel good enough. If this doesn’t describe you, then I’m not talking about you. If it does — you’re not a fan. This hill I will die on.
some of y’all are talking like we’re coming off a hard fought 6 or 7 game series to the Thunder or Spurs fam, we lost to the Lakers without Luka…we were down 3-0 we lost to Marcus Smart and Deandre Ayton…we lost to Jaxon Hayes…we lost to a team giving Bronny James playoff minutes if you’re not mad about the state of the team, something is actually wrong with you
we were missing 47% of our salary cap after the 1st game... 47%! nearly HALF of our payroll between KD, FVV and Adams... plus DFS was crap... If we were at full force and got smacked around like we did... sure, bust out the pitchforks... but 47%! Yeh, we're juggling old guys right now... our younger guys aint all that - but they're a decent supporting cast... hopefully we get a big swing opportunity or get a star outta our 2 frps next year... but the sky aint fallin... lol
It ain’t falling, but it’s like living in Seattle (suicide capital of the US) where it’s overcast for years on end. There’s a bunch of us that are optimistic about our young guys, but, at the same time, dreading a whole extra year of the same boring brand of basketball with the same predictable end. I’ll watch hoping that Amen, Sengun, and Jabari will give me something to be hopeful about after this regime is finished.
the Lakers were missing Luka and Reaves…FVV and Adams don’t compare to that in the game KD played he had 23 points and 9 turnovers, and we lost in the final 2 games vs the Lakers in the regular season, KD averaged a measly 18 ppg and 5.5 turnovers…the Lakers already knew how to shut him down before the playoffs even began the fact that guys like FVV, Adams, and DFS were taking up so much of the payroll is a joke in itself now FVV is turning 33 next season and coming off an exploded knee (his words, not mine)…and KD will be 38 before the season starts
this young core needs 37 y/o KD, 32 y/o bottom tier starting PG FVV, and 32 y/o role player big man Steven Adams in order to possibly beat a Lakers team without Luka and Austin Reaves if this is what tanking gets you, I want my money back…here’s the receipt
I've been a fan since 1992, so I can attest to all the sh-tty years under Les Alexander. I've long maintained that fans way overrate his tenure as owner because of the B2B titles. But after the 1994-97 stretch(which he basically inherited outside of the Drexler and Barkley trades) where they won 2 titles, lost in the Semifinals, and lost in the WCF, the Rockets then won only one playoff series over the next 17 seasons. No, that's not a typo. Only one time over a nearly 2 decade stretch did they get out of the first round. And to add insult to injury, they were in the lottery for 8 of those 17 seasons(and didn't have much to show for it outside of Yao). But that brings me to Tilman. He's now owned the team for 9 seasons. So it's not like he just got here. And much like Les, he inherited a contending team that would've won it all in his first year as owner had it not been for CP3's hammy and Scott Foster's whistle(or lack thereof). So after the 2018-20 run of losing in the WCF and losing in the Semifinals twice, he's now had 6 consecutive seasons as owner where the team missed the playoffs 4 times and then lost in the first round the last two years. Eerily similar to how mediocre the Rockets were under Les once the already constructed contender's window had closed. I'm just afraid we're looking at another potentially very long stretch of almost no playoff success and certainly no trips to the Finals under Tilman.
and that Lakers team was a bottom 10 defense in the regular season they’re trotting out guys like Luke Kennard, Ayton, Jake Laravia, Rui, and geriatric Lebron who has to conserve energy on defense due to his offensive load, and this young core couldn’t feast on that…they were scoring like it’s 2003
cmon, man... yer an old fk like me,,, u know this aint nowhere near the gloomiest of times... it aint like we're looking to Jeremy lamb to lead us to relevance... lol Are we top 3 or 4 in the west? prob not... but if we can be healthy (and thats a bif if) we got a punchers chance... Im figuring juggle the older talent for a year or two... give our core some real playoff experience... and hopefully we get lucky on our future frps w the new flattened system. It isnt like we've mortgaged our future (like a few other teams have done) and got no path to future success.
Yep. Here’s to hoping Thornton lands! That will make up cashing all our 2nds. And like you said, cashing them to dump DFS salary did open up NT-MLE money. But I doubt we use it, since it hard caps us. The TPE maybe, though. And I still think maybe the timing of DFS could be related to how big moratorium trades often get expanding before they actually become official on the 6th. Maybe Stone knows something, like LaMelo trade is expanding and we get a 2RP back, or Brown/PG is expanding or Kawhi, etc.
still completely sold on stone he is better than morey created a tremendous amount of trade flexibility going forward elongates our championship window so many options without this signing and trade we would be stuck in the luxury tax 2 seasons in a row and very little trade flexibility, especially if tari or bari get injured great forward thinking signing and trade would have been better if dfs were healthy but if he were healthy we wouldnt have been able to sign him this cheap
Yeh we were crap without an actual pg... this was a shock? lol People make FVV out to be a punchline, but if we had him (or even Smart or any decent pg option) then KD aint committing 9 turnovers... You can be missing a 25 cent bolt and your 100K car aint gonna run... lol I thought it was malpractice that Stone didnt address the need at the deadline... Quit asking KD to be a facillatator - it aint his wheelhouse... Dont ask Amen to be a pg - it aint his skillset... Either teach Alpi to play d or teach him to shoot and make him a stretch 4... Obviously depending on Adams or FVV to be healthy is not a good place to be... but FVV is gone after this year - if not traded sooner as an expiring... we'll see how Adams pans out... while he was healthy didnt we have like the #1 defense and a top 5 offense?
We are in a thread whose primary purpose is literally to insult other fans “If stone and Udoka have any supporters left, you are legitimately insane.” That’s it. That’s the thread. You really don’t see why some are pushing back on that as Internet slop and not really about being a fan.
then why do folks keep saying they dont want old guys that are going to take minutes away from the core? Folks need to pick a horse... Either our youngsters just need to develop - and if so, folks need to chill... or Stone wiffed and they suck - so we should be doing whatever we need to supplement the roster - including shopping on the scratch n dent aisle...
