I’m sure the Celtics did want him when the alternative was albatross Paul George and 2 picks…I’d badly want Sengun over that too

Celtics also wanted Evan Mobley…they wanted a lot of guys…they were reportedly in active talks with as much as 10 other teams

You do know that Sengun was barely shooting 30% from deep on the season up to the point of that Ime incident right? Don’t tell me you fell for a random fake hot streak from a terrible shooter. Nobody here thought that Sengun three was going in because he hadn’t actually improved his shooting at all. A Sengun three might as well be a turnover.

I’m interested in watching a FO actually do something at the trade deadline to address any of the severe weaknesses on the roster as well as not watching a team go down 3-0 to old ass Life Alert Lebron and bums then proceed to make marginal moves in the offseason…I assume that to be the case for most of the “doomers”

meanwhile the org/FO apologists will sit there like

    I've been a Rox fan since 1983...

idk if some of yall came in during the Harden era... and thought a few years of tanking was going to make us contenders again... but that aint how it works... lol

    Twin Towers
    Championship years
    Ming/TMac
    Harden era

The rest of the time (which is the majority of time) its been rather shi**y....

Shi**y enough that u appreciate 52 win seasons and a playoff berth - even if it does end in heartache....

Some of yall aint experienced enough sh**y seasons - and it shows.

    lol

Exactly, this line of thinking is ridiculous.

Sengun and Amen (aka Bricklayer) are bricklayers because they have failed to put in the amount of work necessary to improve their shooting.

    Full stop.

I just think they are Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb.

There is not cohesive plan, they are stuck between 2 plans - they want vets to make KD's last 2 years happy, and they don't add youth - for our young guys to develop with....and the old guys take away needed time from the young guys.

And the old guys aren't winning or moving any needle significantly.

Team is a complete ****ING mess without a vision or way forward.

Not to argue, but just bc I like talking history …

Usually you just cut late picks who don’t make it. TyTy and Garuba were salary-dumped in our big cap-space year to spend on FAs. And even then, we probably don’t do it except Lopez’s agent basically lied, right? So I wouldn’t call that “compounding” bad picks by attaching 2nds to dump them … we probably just cut them, if it weren’t for eking out more true capspace we were in the process of spending. So that was more like converting SRPs into very immediate spending money.

And as I recall, Stone was allowed to retract the trade (since it wasn’t official yet) when Lopez pulled out. But he kept it in place for Dillon to lock in more trade-matching value, and secondarily as good-will to Hawks, who returned the favor by giving us back one of those 2nds in 2025 for a salary dump of Cody Zeller.

fwiw: Stone also got two SRPs from Boston in a salary dump of Jared Springer. So, it’s not that hard to acquire them, and Stone does do it.

Boy you could not be more wrong, the Hakeem Era was amazing we were contenders a lot -even after Lew Lloyd and Mitch wiggins got suspended for doing coke.

I have been a Rockets fan since 1972 - this mediocrity treadmill is a Stone problem - you have to keep CHURNING until you get a star - we don't have a guaranteed STAR player that can lead for 5 years so you have to keep turning the roster over until you get one.

Anyone should be available for said star....ANYONE.

So what if they are? How they spend their time and money is their business.

Everyone on here is a fan of some order - questioning anyone's fandom is so cowardly - means they just don't have the mental fortitude to argue their position - wusses !

100%. The FIRST and most important step is getting that franchise guy. EVERYTHING else hubs off that. Tilman and Stone stopped the rebuild before accomplishing this. That was a big mistake. That mistake led to others like DFS and Capella

1000% correct, they should be bringing in guys that might develop and you NEVER NEVER get rid of talented players that can score like Whitmore until you know for certain what they will be....this roster, and these two IDIOTS are a mess.

We aren’t arguing their worth as humans. We are arguing the definition of a fan. And someone who conditions their watching on whether or not we are good or bad is most certainly less of a fan than someone who watches no matter what.

I came into last off-season thinking that there was no way to FO wouldn't prioritize singing a guard with the MLE. I was shocked to an extent that we picked up another defensive minded wing in the midst of having traded JG and offloading Cam. Then I thought there is no way we don't use the BAE or whatever mechanism ended up being used on Clint for a guard. Nope. No such luck.

I had little faith coming into this off-season that the rockets would address the glaring holes in the back court. Sure, we picked up a washed Gogi, a second round midget (who I do think could be decent down the line) and a defense first guard in Smart. Doubling then tripping down on defense when offense is the issue is infuriating to see as a fan.

Getting older and less skilled that is the trajectory of this team under Stone. Pretty down on the state of the Rockets as they currently stand.

Edit: you see all the smart teams adjusting to the current NBA playstyle by bolstering their team with shooting and dynamic guards who aren't a total zero on offense. Going against the grain like the Rockets is not always innovative; in the case of the Rockets it is stupidity. I see another 50ish win regular season and being brutally bounced in the first round again.

Appreciate the clarification, HP. I couldn't remember all the finer details of that transaction. I do think it is going to take a significant amount of work and time to accumulate more SRPs as we only have 1 I believe for the next 7 years. Even if they are relatively easy to attain they still have value as we saw last trade deadline with all the guards being traded for SRPs.

    Cheers!

Who cares? You do your fandom the way you want. I’ll do my fandom the way I want. I’ve watched or listened to almost every game since 1987, even through the Silas years. I’d say that’s a fan of some worth. It doesn’t stop me from wanting the team to do the right things to get better and I don’t feel bad about screaming at what a double sack of sh*t our coach and GM are. To me it’s part of being a fan. This is the most frustrated I’ve been with a FO, mainly because I see huge potential in Amen and Sengun if handled properly.
