It was a swing and a miss.... 3 SRP isn't nothing so definitely a little costly. I don't view this is in the all time bad Rocket signings since DFS was only brought here for to be a mid rotation type of player. I think if we had FVV for the back half of the season /playoffs then we wouldn't be so bummed about DFS.

Players getting surgeries on the offseason isn't necessarily uncommon. He had a setback and could never get back to close to his previous form. Looks like we aren't making the same mistake and getting extra playmaking depth this offseason.

DFS was definitely supposed to replace Tari so they didn’t have to pay him.

It won’t because the lawyer pivcked him and clearly has no clue about basketball. If he was any good he wouldn’t have been a 24 year old 4 year college player.

It's a screw up but at least they fixed the screw up. Could be worse than a few second rounders.

As a person who actually has an interest in the second round of the draft, I don’t like this trade at all.

    Feels a LOT like LTS.

I currently don't lile the move.
However, if it has opened up flexibility to use the rest of the MLE / or take on more incoming salary in a trade, then I can get on board with it.

I find it hard to believe it is only a LTS move, that could surely have been done as the season progressed.

I like the second round too, but they had to right that wrong. Stone clearly doesn't value the second round in any way whatsoever.

I voted yes, because he was a Net Zero on the court and getting rid of him and his contract are both positives. With that in mind, I wondered if DFS might return to some semblance of himself this year, but I'm taking that ain't the case and that his ankle is blown up like a knee we know.

I hope we have another move or two to go. Really need a young, athletic rim protector and decide whether FVV can contribute or not.

So, we got nothing back in the "trade" ...

    Sounds like fair value.

3 2nds just to unload DFS contract which was only guaranteed through this season...?

If we're going to use the trade exception... then good, i assume we got a plan to try to contend this year...

if we're just trying to lower the bill... then its fkd!

Thanks, so they are prepping for more moves… or just trying to save some money.

Poor deal reflecting capitulation of the signing as a total failure (I get the signing as DFS was an impact analytics king for years, but they spectacularly underestimated and poorly due diligenced the injury part).

If anything, I think it at least demonstrates that the FO realized that we are not in contention for the upcoming year. A signal to dial back the timeline. Let’s see what else is in their sleeves. I smell much more than what we already had.

Fun fact: Tilman has a new yacht. Annual operating cost roughly $40,000,000. It cost nearly half a million just to gas it up.

I voted that I liked the move, because I assumed it was done to open up the possibility of bringing in a more useful player. After reading some of the comments, I changed my mind because it appears that might not (probably won't?) happen.

At least we're certain we won't have to watch Udoka put DFS in the lineup when there are obviously better choices available.
