KD is old and could be injured again next year. You get off his money. I like Sengun a lot but you cant have him and Amen shooting like **** toggether. they are two of the worst shooters in the league. You trade him you get a superstar maybe you can get a myles turner or another shooting big after that.
Our direction can best described as "keeping our options open". Our best player is 38 years old next season and it looks like we have a talent deficiency, but we're not willing to part with any draft capital to add talent. The Sixers had five 1st round picks in the next five years and were willing to give up two of them to add an all-NBA player. They even got to keep the Clippers 2028 pick which looks like their most valuable one. They are competing and they didn't have to go all in with their draft picks to do it. We have seven picks within the next five years and I guess we're keeping all of them for now. We are clearly standing pat. If our direction is so clear, can you tell me with confidence whether KD will be here next summer? How about Sengun, Tari, Reed, FVV and Adams? I think the only players we'll likely keep with confidence are Amen and Jabari, and I'm not even that sure about the latter. If the future of our almost all of our rotation players are up in the air, then our direction is not clear. Again, I'm not even upset and am fine with putting the major decision making off until next summer. But after five years of rebuilding capped by a very disappointing season, I don't not blame anyone for being extremely upset. We trade for KD and then do nothing for a straight year? Yeah, I get why a fan would be depressed.
I would have traded Durant and picks for Brown. And Amen is the real question mark. If he doesn't make a leap next year then there is no way I would want him as an extension. I don't see the reason getting rid of Sengun. His contract is not terrible and when combined with Steven he played great. The problem is that we had no shooters. So it was either Durant or Sengun trying to make plays.
It was delusional to even think Jaylen would be a possibility to land in Houston. Rockets have players to offer but they’re undervalued and the traded players have to want to come here.
I would describe our direction as competing. It doesn't matter what fans want or think when Tilman isn't looking to rebuild or even soft rebuild by all accounts. To the bolded, this hit on a theme..... we aren't willing to depart with draft capital (and presumably our players) to add LeMelo, Giannis, Kessler, Kawhi, or Brown based on what we know. That's not the same thing as not willing to use our considerable draft capital. I truly get it sucks watching other team make moves, but do you just want to make a move to make a move? You seem to be asking for a plan instead of a direction.... Again... the direction is to compete for playoffs and eventually finals. The plan is "keeping our options open" or the dreaded "flexibility" that we had under Morey. I'm not sure why the door has closed on Amen and Sengun's improvement. EPM (by all means reply with a different metric) still puts Sengun and Amen at 9th and 11th under 28 players. While this season has made me think they won't be a top 10 player in the NBA, I don't necessarily believe Durant will be our "best player" next year if we just make moves on the edges. I also think they both still have room for improvement to where they can get to be a consistent top 20 players, but that clock is ticking. Decent chance they just won't work together. I have no idea who will be on the team next year or who the next crop of disgruntled stars might be. What if Tyrese Maxey or Edgecombe relationship goes south with the Brown trade? Likewise I wouldn't be upset if we punt major decisions until the mid season deadline or next offseason.

I think I would’ve enjoyed swapping Brown for Durant and a first. Going off of the forum though it seems like Houston had no interest in even that. Brown’s contract runs one year after Durant and was about 20% more each season in the next two years. God knows what Brown’s next contract will look like. He certainly isn’t getting another max, but he will still be young enough to wear the dollar amount will probably be quite high.
Doesn't mean the next one won't hit. That said, Alp was a massive strike at 17. Massive. He's definitely an "all nba player". What's more, they managed to extend his contract on super team friendly terms.

Thing is sure his contract hampers you, but well where are the rockets going to find a dude? Durant that dude it seems? Till hes not, was he healthy come playoff time? Nope.
There are reasons the Celts had to shop Brown hard for more than a week before finally settling for Paul George and picks. Nobody seemed to want him.
