Why doesnt FVV, Smart and Thornton address the lack of playmaking?

You realize Bogbo is a career 38% shooter and Thornton shot 40% in college? Reed still shot 39%, Jabari is a decent 36% and KD is 40%. FVV shot 34% last year but before that he shot 38% and is a career 37%.

What are other teams doing? You mean 2 picks and 2 swaps for Walker Kessler? lmao

No western team has improved as much as the Rockets this season who got their injured guys back and added vets in FA.

My point is y'all act like 32 is washed so when Stone signed Smart he is washed but then when the Spurs sign a 32 yr old he isnt washed. Y'all said this is how you do it Stone meaning you would also like to sign Harris to this team not just the Spurs.

Harris averaged 13/5 last year as a starter. He is producing at the same rate as guys like Adams, Capela and FVV who apparently are washed according to you guys.

I am not coping Harris gonna be making 15M while averaging 13/5. Thats more than 1M per point but ok I am coping. Meanwhile Capela who is the same age and averaged 8/9 on 7M is a toxic untradable contract and we would need assets to get off it.

You are really banking on a vet minimum guy who is constantly injured, a second round pick who probably will be in the G-league, and a broken-down FVV, oh and sniper Marcus Smart. To each their own, I guess. We continue to have only two real threats from 3 in Reed and KD, and with the addition of Smart, and return of FVV that Reed will play significantly less minutes.

Smart and FVV are not real playmakers. They do not break down the defense nor do they provide rim pressure.

Rim pressure do you know we have guys name Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson and KD? their job is to provide the rim pressure. What they need is ballhandling and playmaking which Smart and FVV gonna provide.

You havent even seen FVV play yet but he is already broken down. Sniper smart? Thats like saying defensive Steph Curry amirite? Way to downplay what Smart brings which is defense ballhandling and playmaking. Oh but wait Smart gonna be used for shooting and Bogbo gonna be used for playmaking thats why we didnt do anything to address our needs

Percentages are what they are, just cuz you say they arent real doesnt mean its true. Reed 39% is a real threat but Bogbo 38% isnt a real threat? You do you. Like I said if you look the opposite way and ignore what the players we got will be used for then yeah you can say Rockets have done nothing.

In smaller doses where he carries a lighter load with lower expectations, I think Tobias Harris will thrive with the Spurs.

He's also a successful veteran with his head screwed on and a great addition to their locker room.

None of FVV, Smart, or Reed are playmakers. Thornton is a rookie that Ime will never play (probably RGV bound). We will be better defensively with FVV and/or Smart. Our offense will still stink.

Not Reed, but FVV and Smart will handle the ball, keep tos low and run the offense. Maybe you dont consider that playmaking but I do. Adams being also helps the offense with his rebounds. Our offensive rank with him reached up to 2nd rank even without FVV.

Smart is getting way too much hate in here. I understand that he represents a disappointment in the moves that we didn’t make, but for what we paid for him he is going to be extremely useful.

if we are going to continue to play Thompson in 40 minutes again, another point of attack defender in the back court will be extremely helpful. Amen had a rest year as a defender because he was asked to do more than ever. And he still handled the adjustment quite well.

I don’t think a successful vision for our team has Thompson being the number one defensive option on the perimeter. He simply has too much else to do and to work on to become the franchise guy. and we need to work those minutes down by a few per game anyway.

Not to mention he fits withFVV (if he plays) and Reed. Point of attack defense gets underrated and you need guys that are small enough to help control the fastest people in the league. a lot of the time, you aren’t even going to shut down those little guards, but somebody like Smart can help make it difficult on them. So he is our best or second best defensive player right away. Yes, we lack shooters. Ole Freddy It’s probably gonna be a more helpful spot of shooter than point of attack defender at our current trajectory.

I think the disappointment isn't so much about hating Smart or even hating the deal. It's about the kind of player he is that shows a clear priority of the FO/coaching philosophy. It's the same sentiment about the Capela deal. It's not about hating the player. It's about "why this guy?" We need something else much more urgently.

It's like a husband going out to buy grocery. He sees donuts and cheesecakes on big sale deals and so he buys a bunch. And he forgets to buy meats and veggies which the wife really needs for cooking a decent meal.
