His mom never bothered me. It’s not like she’s Lavar ball(who I also didn’t find annoying, i thought he was hilarious)

malcontent tendencies? Where did this come from? I've seen zero evidence of this. In fact, he appears to be an incredible teammate.

I literally just came here to see how this board would twist this into a bad deal. It's impressive. The whole world outside of Houston is going to applaud this contract. I don't know what happened to this board. There have always been doomers and haters, but they used to be outnumbered. Now it seems like 80% of this board just comes here to complain and looks at every transaction/move the front office makes from the lens of, "How can I hate this?"

    1. The Rockets didn't have that money for Quentin Grimes. They only had the taxpayer MLE, which Marcus Smart got. They are only able to give this deal to Tari because they have his bird rights.
    2. Go to Sixers reddit and ask them if they would rather have Quentin Grimes or Tari Eason.

Eason was not a top prospect or player most of his high school career. He didn’t get any attention until his senior season - when he went from a good high school basketball player to someone that would get a full ride for basketball. Even then I don’t remember him being a 5 star recruit after having an excellent senior season.

I don’t know what is in his head - I just know he wasn’t pampered like kids identified as elite at 9-10 years old. He wasn’t even the best player on his team until his senior season in HS and in college he wasn’t even a starter if I remember correctly.

Maybe the last 3-4 years has changed him - IDK, but I personally am not reading much into his emoji shrug based on his past and what I have heard others say that know him.

I've not been very happy with Tari, and this deal does carry some real risk with his leg issues, but if he can stay at least somewhat healthy, having him locked up for five years at basically NT-MLE money could be a real steal. Stone is kinda whatever as a drafting GM and his track record at identifying hidden gems had been poor overall, but I will give him his props, the man can negotiate player contracts with the best of them.

For folks complaining about the years, Lowe was talking about this generally on Simmons' podcast. If this was like Jalen's deal where it was 2 years with a player option for a third, in 2 years you're already on the clock to extend. If Tari outplays this deal, which he will if he can play at least 60 games or so a year, it's great to have a solid cost controlled player for the next 4 years.

This era of the NBA is funny man. You can have the lowest basketball IQ possible and get $81 million for it.

his defense and 3pt% got him paid. He may not have his head on straight but true 3 and D gets you paid in this league.

not only that but this deal takes him all the way through age 30. The end of him prime

I dont know if he was a malcontent behind the scenes, but the optics of his effort, attitude and decision making the second half of last season were objectively bad.

However people here are acting like somebody being in a bad head space at one point will always be that person. We had 3+ years of him being by all accounts great in those regards...albeit chaotic.

I think his injury issues are the more valid concern.

Same as Champaigne of the Spurs. Good contract, solid 25-30 minute player

Tari should be grown up enough to know posting cryptic stuff like this comes with consequences.

The whole league wants him. Gives us room to move either him, Bari, or KD if the occasion calls for it.

Fair deal. Teams using absolute leverage can ruin players and Eason still has a lot of value for the Rockets.
