This was sparked from a reply I made in another thread. But I honestly didn’t realized how cooked we were until I actually thought about what’s been happening in free agency. We all know the Rockets worst issues were: Ball Handling Shooting Horrible Bench So far, I would say Stone’s grade is a D with fixing any of this. Our bench still looks like it’s going to be trash and barely address any issue. You tell me what gives you confidence from this list of bench players names? Compare what our organization is banking on compared to teams trading for: Lamelo Ball Jaylen Brown Giannis Quentin Grimes Walker Kessler Luke Kennard Ayo Dossumo Kawhi Leonard Norman Powell John Collins Tobias Harris Jusuf Nurkic Collin Sexton Angeree Simons Colby White Isaiah Joe Isaiah Stewart Tim Hardway Jr. Jhrue Holiday Ja Morant LeBron James Anthony Davis who are the Rockets signing to scare the league with you say?….. Marcus Smart Tari Eason Bojan Bogdonavic Bruce Thornton JD Davidson Isaiah Crawford Literally our last hope is a Kyrie or Zion trade Which is highly unlikely what depths of hell has Houston Rockets fans been cursed too? This organization is SO Fu€ked!
There cooked in the playoffs for sure. They will win some games cause they got one of the best scorers in the league(Durant), and very offensive powerful center in Sengun. Amen will have some great games, and you have Bari and Eason Defense which is stellar with Amen. As for the play offs they just lack a true star that can break down isolation and get his numbers. But the real problem is the bench.. Is Smart, FVv, Adams , DfS with no young guns off the bench enough? They need young play makers off the bench who can score and play defense. Maybe they get this in next years draft....
Exactly I didn’t realize our bench is already pretty much filled out between FVV, Adam’s return and Marcus Smart and Bogi and Bruce Thorton and Tari & Reed Smart is just going to eat into valuable Reed minutes
Bogdonavic will have to be a elite shooter like Luke Kennard crazy possessed for us to even win a series...
Reed might have a strong summer/training camp and earn the starting point guard spot. I would like FVV to be our backup point guard if we strike out on Kyrie.
I still think this is a 50+ win regular season team, but unfortunately we will be a 1st or 2nd round playoff exit. We are around the 5th or 6th best team in the west behind the Thunder, Spurs, Nuggets and Timberwolves. I would've included the Lakers since they beat us in the playoffs, but they've lost Lebron. Marcus Smart and Bojan Bogdanovic are good depth pieces, but they aren't moving the needle. These are moves that Stone should've made before the trade deadline and we could've possibly beaten the Lakers. Our only hope going into next season is growth from the 'young core.'
Biggest disappointment to me so far is the lack of change on the coaching staff. Ime needs better assistant coaches for us to take another leap. We’re goin to be doin the same rudimentary playing style we did last season
So you have no faith in an aged Bogi and Marcus Smart being able to lift this team to another level and compete for a championship? You don't think Ime and the same old assistant coaching staff won't learn from making the same exact mistakes over the past 3 years and finally adapt to unlock the true offensive potential of this team? C'mon, quit being such a negative Nancy! Note: "Offensive potential" has two possible meanings.
That’s my point We literally have the worst possible trifecta: A stubborn coach who lacks in game adjustments and offensive competence A risk adverse GM who is up against the salary cap & scared to make big moves An actual competitive NBA contender level bench with versatile players that can work for various roles and scenarios
Well said. spurs just added Billy Donavan to their staff after going to The Finals. Former head coaches on a staff is a big advantage.
I'd say our roster is better than it was last year... and that was a 52 win team... it'll be a year of hoping we stay healthy... With the possibility of trading FVVs and DFS expiring contracts as the wild card...
