    Okaaaay.

If this is true, why didn't "half the league" offer Tari that contract (or more)?

Tari impacts winning. Will be interesting to see what he can do with the contract behind him. We deserve a big course correction on the attitude. I have to trust that the FO, who knows the medicals better than we do, is satisfied his long term health is not a concern. I’d be shocked they’d give him 5 yrs if they thought there was a lingering long term medical concern.

Everybody on the court is a little more stupid when low iq Tari is out there. Low iq is an insult to the word iq when describing Tari’s game.

The issue with the current CBA is that it hampers what players like Tari make because other teams know that they'll just get matched by their original team so they dont bother. Jalen Duren is another. Im sure teams want their services but don't want to waste valuable time on an ultimately fruitless endeavor.

I'd imagine the Players Union isnt happy with how this is working out for some of their members.

I don’t take it as a sign of anything, he’s not a doctor, I’m think it’s very likely the team has a better idea of what his health situation is better than him.

Different people have different levels of risk tolerance. Guys in recent years like Noel, Isaiah Thomas, DeMarcus Cousins, Motiejunas got absolutely gut wrenchingly hammered by not securing bags before major injuries. They all could have made 2 to 3x + their total career earnings.

Tari taking 80 million guaranteed is absolutely nothing to blink about, even if he stays healthy he may never be worth more than what he got, his BBIQ, shooting inconsistency, poor touch at the rim, and lack of growth as a player does not indicate he’s overwhelmingly likely to become a 15-20% of the cap type of guy IMO.

In fact, I think the Rockets giving him a PO and 10% trade kicker was a break for Tari that we gave purely as a peace offerings / good will to make him feel happy with the deal/franchise. This was a good deal for Tari.

Because he was a restricted free agent, and teams don't like tying up the offseason spending on a role player knowing the Rockets will simply wait match it.

His effort the end of the season and post season is the worst I’ve seen of any rocket

On court demeanor, pouting personality…it’s not like this team has chemistry issues as it is

Because it is MOOT, a WASTE of one’s precious energy, a WASTE of your FO’s TIME, BRAIN, and MONEY to offer someone a contract that you know will have ZERO chance NOT to get matched, brother.

Hit the club, go grab a drink, see a movie. It’s time better spent than offering Tari Eason NT-MLE money. You know why? Because it does not make sense to them. It’s called restricted agency.

    Jesus ****ing christ

In fairness, If I had to pick one player on the team who is in on the fix it would be Tari. No evidence, but going two months and not making one three and the extremely low iq turnovers and fouls reminds me of the guard who got banned on the Heat. Expect more of this the next five seasons….another awful awful move by Stone.

Have you ever thought there’s more to it that may breach legality (i.e., classic mark for gamblers). Always been suspicious of Tari’s game as there can’t be somebody truly that dumb on the court.

Tari is better than Quentin Grimes and it's not close.

I see this a pretty solid move for Stone, I have to give him credit on this one. Relatively cheap deal very tradeable.

There is only so much money available every offseason as teams set a limit on how they will spend relative to the cap and aprons. The players union should be neutral on which players get paid. You can make the argument RFAs get the short end but free agents still get paid regardless.

IMO, Jalen Duren has a legit reason to be angry because, IMO, his RFA status cost him a LOT of money. I seriously don't believe Tari was affected that much. His health, low IQ, severe shooting slump the last two months, etc punctured his market value. There are a lot of question marks about him.

Duren certainly didn't help himself in the playoffs, but he's proven himself steady, reliable and predictable.

That's probably where the years and/or fully guaranteed comes in.

It's a good move for the Rockets because it's a tradeable contract. I do have to wonder who they were bidding against though. The amount of people I've seen saying this is a good deal, when it's probably more than the market would've offered, because they were just convinced he was a $25-30 million level player is funny. I mean, he plays about half the time so it's like half the contract he wanted? And he's only good about half the time he plays.

Truth be told, it's a good contract because he's an ok player entering his prime on a very cost controlled, albeit guaranteed contract for the next 5 seasons. This as an asset fills in the quite obvious gaps on the floor, and some team will pony up a nice pick to get it.
