He may not have been an absolutely top tier prospect, but was still top 150 nationally and top 2 in Washington state, meaning he knew from probably 16 or 17 years old that his trajectory was a career making millions for playing a game.

Down to earth, not pampered etc. may be true, but at the end of the day he still made this tweet which makes him look sour and out of touch.

Well played. They should use the exact same playbook with Amen.

The average annual salary is fine, but I don't like guaranteeing 5 years to a guy who's been injury prone the last 3 seasons and played like a scrub from the All-Star Break onward this past season.

Tari is the 3rd / 4th most impactful player on the team. It does not show easily, but he is a very valuable role player (the Jaden McDaniel, Mikal Bridges and Trevor Ariza type) that will elevate the team if we get a true alpha one day.

Even adjust for injury risks, 16m AAV is a steal.

Unreal that there are guys here who voted no lol.

Going all in on mediocrity. I guess its the only choice they have. Oh well we're screwed for foreseeable future anyways.

This is the rare deal that is potentially bad for both parties.

If Tari manages to get and stay healthy he could massively overpay the deal.

If Tari stays constantly injured, the Rockets have a worthless player signed long term.

Why does signing a good player to a great contract, regardless of situations / contexts, deserve comments like this?

I’d be happier if the guarantee was him staying healthy and learning to convert at the rim. Otherwise, I’m a fan.

I'm curious what your reasoning is for believing in the shooting.

He was a bad / mediocre three point shooter for his previous three seasons, and the sample size of the drought was larger than the hot streak, so the data just doesn't support it.

I think the streak felt more significant and prolonged than it actually was because he was out with injury for a large portion of it, missing almost as many games as he played. Lasted more than 3 months but was only 27 games.

Too many people don’t understand how any of this works … people are complaining that we didn’t sign Grimes with that money……… I mean, this is just basic NBA stuff that anyone posting on a forum should know by now

I think its a pretty fair deal. Not an overpay. Not a huge steal. Just solid and fair.

It still doesn’t sound like he fully “gets it”

There is no way you can take that b****y ass response as someone who is grateful and atleast content with getting to be in the NbA , yet alone just got a guaranteed 88 million dollars.

it comes off as b****y and entitled.

5 years is too long for an injury prone player like him.

Idk I just don’t like a lot of our players lol. I’d be so down for a full rebuild… seems like Rockets are cursed when others make so many moves

Throw out last season. Tari's 3P% was higher than Jabari's their first 3 years.
With or without last season, Tari's 3P% is higher than Jabari's.

The difference between them is (when healthy) Tari is often an impact defensive player while Jabari is not.

One or both of them will be gone within two years. I predict both.
