Not surprised with Teng to the bullpen but a little surprised with Javier. As he's been built up in AAA and spaghetti/burrows could be candidates to be optioned.
"And during the few moments that we have left, we wanna talk right down to Earth in a language that everybody here can easily understand."
Why would you trade him and/or who would you trade him for? Rando OF? You can never have too much pitching.
Blubaugh to the Angels for Trout (10 day IL) and a lottery ticket prospect. Trout can then keep Pena company on IL. Blubaugh atp might be untradable, though. The Astros still have too many SPs who can't seem to make it though 5 innings.
Blubaugh has been a vital member of the bullpen and a big part of why Houston’s playoff hopes still have life, and I really like him, but I am totally fine with them trading him if he’s a significant part of a trade that brings back a star hitter or SP. Backfilling a bulk RP or 7th inning guy is pretty easy to do. Houston is going to have to give up something to improve the team and I would much rather if be a guy like Blubaugh than a high ceiling position player prospect in the lower levels of Houston’s farm. Similarly I love Ethan Pecko as a pitching prospect but I’m totally prepared to see him traded and would much rather him be gone than Neyens or Alvarez or Eve any number of lesser lower level high ceiling position player prospects.
3x this season an Astros pitcher has thrown more balls than strikes in a game. NONE of those guys are not named Tatsuya.
The Astros should absolutely be sellers, in my opinion. They were just over .500 for June, despite 9 come from behind victories. Trade Pena. Trade Brown. We know that Crane will not extend them. Extract as much value as possible. They should also look at Yordan's market value. I think a lot of the 2027 season will be lost to the upcoming CBA work stoppages. Plan for 2028 and beyond.
When you have a chance to win the division you should go for it Stros could get hot. It's happened to them before.
Yeah it seems like since games will be missed that. Maybe they should try to put in a pretty good effort at retooling the team to make a miracle run this fall. I am not saying trade all of the prospects, but it seems to me by the time baseball recovers from the work stoppage. We will have had time to swim around in the dumpster and rebuild like we did before. Yordan/Jose/Hader let’s give these guys one more shot. It is a shame that Carlos is completely out.
Especially when you think there won’t be a season next year and have no idea what the new CBA will look like. I feel like everyone who always want to sell believe it will be easy to get a bunch of prospects, tank a few years, and be right back on top. Look at the Orioles. Prospects don’t guarantee you anything either.
