he’s collapsed in public on camera numerous times, so this is no surprise

Why is his old ass still in politics anyways?

there needs to be an age limit of 65

He is dead but probably on the machines
so they don't have to replace him yet

Technically legally kind of sortaly he is not dead . . . so they can
    use that loop hole. . .. .

Yes . . . they are horrible people doing this to a horrible person

65 is a good age if you consider that many boomers and now gen-x, especially men, beat the **** out of their bodies for far too long and 60 is what I call the ‘cliff’ age where mortality spikes.

Going forward with modern medicine 70 is viable and realistic.

However, there are outliers like Bernie that would be a bad idea to force into retirement. Experience, maturity and institutional knowledge are huge. I would prefer testing with an independent agency after a certain age.

But it will never happen, like old folks having to test for driving. Old people are the largest voting block and they won’t vote against their own interests, unfortunately…and that’s why we’re in this mess; a bunch of self-serving entitled senior citizens.

Its repulsive that this country has no age restrictions for politicians.

They get to die on the throne.

Why would it be bad to force someone like Bernie into retirement? What does he even do these days? What’s the last piece of major legislation he led in getting passed? He lost 2 different times running for President. What is he doing that can’t be done by somebody much younger?

the man went on an anti-oligarchy tour and does an interview here or there, and that’s pretty much it

all the geriatrics need to go, him included

Because he's seemingly cognitively sound enough for the job he was elected to do.

You not caring for his accomplishments or politics has nothing to do with the discussion. Name 25 senators that have "led major legislation in getting passed" in the last 10 or 15 years, you can't, vast majority of senators aren't single handedly getting major things passed, it's not a standard you can hold a senator to as proof for incompetence.

Is it immoral to deny someone who is cognitively capable of doing a job / providing public service due to age? I'd argue it is. How about making standard cognitive tests for all congressional candidates as a requirement to run?

    this isn’t convincing at all

age limits in Congress and for President need to be a thing and arguing otherwise is crazy

Or voters just need to be better here in the US and not so ignorant on top of cult like in their ideologies.

You also create much more power for lobbyists in DC if you kick out anyone with grey hair. Not that monsters like McConnell, Cornyn, etc. are much more ethical but at least you get some senior senators and congress members of good will and principal… maybe. With lobbyists leading the show we know for a fact and every single new member of congress out of necessity will have to work with the corporate interest shills who will then run DC.

Maybe my prediction would turn up to be a non issue but it’s just something I wish people would think about and prepare for if term and age limits progress. I hope they do but I just think it needs to be well planned for so we don’t end up worse off.

We have a start age limit for the POTUS which seems reasonable. We also term limit the POTUS. Adding a you-must-be-younger-than-70 age limit to be sworn in as POTUS also seems reasonable.

I can easily see extending the start/end age limit and term limits to Congress and the SCOTUS. I am also for banning stock trading for POTUS and his executive team, SCOTUS and Congress.

You're not making any counter arguments or explaining why my argument is "not convincing at all" or "crazy".

It's just a I'm right your wrong reply, not much to discuss or debate with that.

We pretty much have a cognitive tests but its being circumvented. Its called campaigning. Its on the voters to ensure they listen to the campaign and not 10 second sound/video clips

That's the thing with a lot of the re-election folk, most don't campaign once they are established, and if you're established you're probably old.

Are we not in a thread about old ass Mitch McConnell in the hospital since June 14th? This after he’s been looking like a corpse for years now?

Did we not have Biden and now Trump fighting off dementia looking like they could keel over any minute? By the end, Joe Biden could barely form coherent sentences. Trump’s f*tass can’t even stay awake. Trump should be in a nursing home, not running a country.

RBG hanged on for dear life till she ended up dying on the SC at age 87

I’m not that interested in debating whether there should or shouldn’t be an age limit because not being in favor of it is ridiculous
