If Smart was on the Rockets last season his turnover % would be higher than any non center on the roster. He's never been a very good ball handler. Defense he can give you, shooting and ball handling? Never really part of his game.
Jett Howard anybody? Decent shooting depth for the inevitable Tari-less games. Pretty bad defensively but has size, maybe he could be willing to accept a 1+1 PO min. IIRC we had some interest in him during his draft.
I know It’s a long shot and I haven’t read through the pages , but Shams says 12-14 teams have shown interest in LeBron. Has anyone confirmed if we are one of those teams?
Udoka hates LeBron, and I think the feeling is mutual, so I doubt it. Especially since I'm seems to be calling all the shots these days
These numbers are going to look way different playing with Luka on offense , as will the departing Lakers numbers
3 days in or whatever but thus far the off-season has been a disaster for Rockets fans hoping for something/anything to have any realistic chance of improvement The "what if we had FVV" cope imploding with his health rumors FA acquisitions of Smart , Washedanovic politely described as *solid depth* pieces - all decent UFA now mostly gone No trades when established stars like Giannis, LaMelo and Brown all moving- with Brown apparently ditched in a fire sale FOR CHEAP that the Rockets didn't want any part of "Listening to offers" for Sengun & Durant - crickets A second rd draft pick - yay? Other contenders get better or retool to try to disrupt the Spurs/OKC dominance (Lakers, Wolves,) For you coaching magic enthusiasts where's that "offensive assistant" coaching search at? Rockets thus far are running it back with a team they acknowledged was not good enough, that is highly unlikely to be good enough again, that has well documented structural problems, and that was *an absolute chore to watch* most of 2026 There's still time to make a change but my fear with StonetittaDoka has been that they get high on their own supply and overvalue themselves - this is exactly the kind of off-season you'd see if this were true
Small tidbit but the Rockets genuinely do like Isaiah Crawford, they think he has a chance to become a high-end role player in the near future. This part is purely my speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised if they earmark a roster spot for him, or at least leave one open that he can win at camp. Would be a bit cheaper for tax purposes, and also he turns 25 later this year — if you do believe in the guy, at some point you need to play him and see what you have. (Related, I wouldn't expect Davison back. His non-guaranteed deal is useful trade filler to have during expanded offseason rosters, but barring major injuries, Thornton/Smart probably crowd him out.)
Just because, in your opinion he is better than stone is not the point. he sux.no pic ass gm Mavs Gm Harrison is just a frkn dumb ass.
I heard you & others say this & don't doubt it- my question is why didn't he (Crawford) play last year instead of say...Tate eg in some spots, or at least some 1st half spot duty in relief of minute kings Thompson/Durant Or was it some 2 way restrictions or whatever im not aware of (or does Udoka not trust him)
A very fair question, and I've wondered the same. I think the answer is by the time the injuries got truly out of control (i.e. Durant in the playoffs), Crawford wasn't eligible and it was already too late to go that outside the box. But could you have been better prepared, if you had played the long game during the season? I think so, yeah. You would've had to convert him, but it's not like they actually used Davison (who they converted) in the playoffs, anyway.
This is disgusting to hear not because Crawford did anything wrong or is bad but compare what our organization is banking on compared to teams trading for Lamelo Ball Isaiah Crawford Jaylen Brown Giannis Quentin Grimes Luke Kennard Ayo Dossumo Kawhi Leonard Colby White Isaiah Joe Isaiah Stewart Ja Morant LeBron James who are the Rockets signing to scare the league with you say?….. Marcus Smart Bogdan Bogdonavic Bruce Thornton JD Davidson Isaiah Crawford what depths of hell has Houston Rockets fans been cursed too?
The teams plan is apparently to run it back and hope for big personal leaps from Reed/Thompson/Sengun. As constructed we're no different from the team that got embarrassed by LeBron and the pips. I guess we can always pivot mid season once the writing is on the wall. Certainly hard to be excited right now.
Genuinely have no idea what people see in this dude lol. He’s been on people’s board forever but he’s been truly dogshit
