As much as I love Q, he was too expensive. And, perhaps more important, he can't handle the ball well enough for our purposes now. We should have drafted him. Eat em Up!
I'm not capologist but this sounds correct. Unfortunately, we have too much money tied up in net neurtral or negative players like Capela and Finna Miss to make alot of moves without risking triggering the hard cap.
Sam Vecenie yesterday: “I think Marcus Smart is a better player than Quentin Grimes, if I'm being honest. I do. I think that Marcus Smart was a better defender last year. I thought Marcus Smart was really good defensively through the second half of the season. We know what he can be offensively. Maybe he just decided he wanted to leave.” From Game Theory Podcast: JAYLEN BROWN TRADED TO 76ers | Lakers Sign, Trade for Kessler | NBA Free Agency Madness, Jul 1, 2026 This material may be protected by copyright.
4 year with player option for someone who has bounced around multiple teams? We could certainly have made room for Grimes.... but that would be a lot of work to overpay a journeyman.
Clearly you are only concerned about irrationally trashing the Rockets.... "Stone and 28 teams made a big mistake by not drafting Shead" is what a rational person would say. You do you crazy person but this is a forum....
Shead is a U of H product. Don’t you think that the Rockets should have known more about him than other teams from their scouts?
If we are going to create space it needs to be for Rui to replace Tari and find SG that can defend and hit 3's to replace KD. Unfortunately, I think we are done with our off-season, unless they pay draft picks to unload FVV and DFS.
Not drafting Shead was probably a result of them taking Reed earlier. It's unfortunate because Shead really would have been perfect here.
Not really. I love Shead and all things equal he'd be a heck of a lot more valuable to have here than AJ Griffin was. But a defensive minded PG with a below average outside shot is definitely not the piece this team is missing. If you could Frankentstein Reed and Shead into one player that's an all-star, though.
