Brown/Edgecombe/Maxey is a crowded backcourt. None are natural PGs either. They all have a score first mentality. I'd also question Brown's locker room presence.
I get the asking price was very low and I could've been talked into it just for KD but I'm not upset we aren't having to pay Brown $60m for the next 3 years. There are better ways to use fill our cap, imo. I still would rather trade KD for a pick(s?) and have a reset.
Paying Jaylen 35% of your cap room is definitely not a winning strategy if you don't have other really good players to pair him with that are not making as much money.
Brown is one of the 10 best players in the nba and to be had for nothing, is a slap in the face to Rocket fans. Meanwhile, the Rockets are still trying to wonder if Thompson and Sengun gonna learn to shoot
Idc how anyone wants to spin this, but not getting Brown and calling Thompson untouchable is a failure. I mean posters trying to spin the money angle, but he got the deal he got because he's all nba. I mean let me know when any of these players aside from KD rank 6th in mvp votes.
doesn’t matter when they acquired him for old, washed Paul George who can’t stay healthy…it’s a massive upgrade
It just highlights that Ime and Stone don’t know what the hell they’re doing. Even if you have to trade KD ( to get Brown) You could have added years to your window and have a clear cut best player. It’s just a gaffe of epic proportions and they should be fired for it.
I think we need to consider that Brown's value among league executives seems to be MUCH lower than his value among fans. He clearly isn't viewed as a top 10 player or Boston would have been able to get a lot more for him.
The issue is how Brown’s value was so low? Everyone thinks that PGs contract is negative value and probably needs at least 1 first round pick to trade. In that case, the trade is only for 1 pick + filler. However, it seems like Boston actually valued PG. If we offered KD + 1 first round pick + couple second round picks, it could have got it done? Are most nba teams not willing to pay $60M for non-alpha? Have the market finally reached the perceived ceiling on non-super star pay?
If they could have traded KD +filler and zero picks, then yea. I'm happy they didn't give up any picks for Brown and his albatross contract.
I named my first born son after Hakeem and grew up sitting on the baseline at Compaq, but this post Harden era is the worst. I joined this site the summer we traded for Harden because he was my favorite non rocket and i knew okc would not pay him. But after him, it has been the mediocrity treadmill without the likeable Dmo, Scola, Lowry, Landry and good coaching of Adelman. Its a bizarro version of entitled, overrated big names with inflated egos and underwhelming performance. Never disliked a Rockets team so much, would take back McFail, Chandler Parsons and Dwight Howard days over this
Why is it always assumed there is something wrong with the player instead of the organization? Boston spent a decade with the most assets and have 1 ring to show for it, got new owners and now they doing the Fertitta, trying to get that money back
I feel you…last season was up there with the 05-06 and 15-16 seasons for me I can’t say I genuinely like a single player on this team right now…at best I tolerate some of them like Amen even tho his archetype of a non-shooter that plays on the perimeter doesn’t appeal to me at all whatsoever (if Amen was on another team I wouldn’t even think about him) the team is unwatchable, and this loss to the Lakers was so embarrassing I had to put away all my Rockets gear and scrub any semblance of fandom off the internet aside from CF I wouldn’t even mind them trading for Kyrie right now, because aside from him being better than obese FVV, at least there’d be one player on the team whose game I enjoy watching…if we’re gonna keep treading water as a 1st round exit, let me at least get some speck of entertainment out of it
Would've given up Amen and the picks for him. You'd be getting rid of a talentless, non-shooting athlete and landing a top 10 player in his prime.
Because Boston literally shopped Brown throughout the league and this is the price......That's exactly how markets work. It's amusing watch a lot of your consistently butt hurt "Rocket fans" trash the org at every chance. Do yall really want LaMelo Ball and Brown or just trash the Rockets?
It’s not just Boston that didn’t want to pay him though, every other team also didn’t want to. Do you think the sixers are smart and EVERY other team is stupid? Is OKC dumb? Are the spurs? Both of them could easily have traded for him.
It's almost hilarious watching people who really don't actually want LaMelo or Brown complain it.... Like some of yall purely exist to hate on the Rockets.
