During the last quarterly call, I thought Musk strongly implied with v.15 (the 10x parameter increase) in sight, they can't responsibly start the rapid robotaxi expansion just yet. Hopefully a big mapping update will come before then too.

Waymo has had millions of total miles and rides. No serious fatalities that I know of.

Just cause your tech (Tesla) isn't ready for prime time doesn't mean you can nitpick others that are already on the market.

We all know the reason you post negative Waymo articles is because you're a Tesla fanboy who mistakenly thought FSD was the most advanced tech on the market, and cannot handle the fact that competitors have superior tech

He is just a nerdy fanboi.
He is no different than the Apple fanbois.

One of their primary functions online is to defend their favorite product. They are never going to be objective. It's their identity.

Yes, my understanding unsupervised FSD will not come out until V15, which is late this year (ha) or early next year.

What often gets dismissed is that Waymo and Robotaxi/FSD is not an apples to apples comparison. Waymo is not trying to solve a complete human replacement, but just a uber displacement. I have much confidence in V14 getting me to point A to point B. I have no confidence its going to perform end parking better than a human at this stage. Honestly Tesla should take advantage and break the services apart. Give me a $50.00 uber experience and for another $50.00, let me use my vehicle as full autonomous end-to-end.

lol great comparison. I always **** on Apple and touted Android as a better overall product. In the last year, I've been migrating over to Apple on some products. Not that I find the Apple product as superior, only that its much more simpler and convenient than android. Should have switched 5-7 years ago when Android peaked.
Same with Tesla - Its not some superior product. There are lots of reasonable comparables. But we were reassured by many competition was coming. Now the competition is turning their excess battery supply into energy storage. Or writing off billions of debt. Eventually there will be true competition, but by then, EV's will be as boring as a muscle car.

Now that I'm looking for a new car to purchase later this year or sometime next year, I'm finding that most vehicles, whether EV or not, have 1 or 2 glaring "misses" that annoy me. Either that or most manufacturers have taken the approach that "sedan bad - tiny, overpriced suv's good". I swear vehicle shopping shouldn't be this annoying - it used to be fun. :D

It was announced today that the Slate truck will start at $24,950. Seems high for what you get, but it's another step in the affordable American EV market.

    Thoughts?

The EV truck market has performed very poorly across the board.

My antidotal observation - EV's (in general) have performed very well in the following catagories:
    Middle class/suburban women
    Middle eastern/asian/Indian demo's
People who want as little maintenance as possible

By far and wide, the most resistant people are the ones who insist they need a pickup truck even though they utilize the full pickup truck capability a couple times a year, if that. Interestingly, the people I know who use the full performance of a pickup truck appreciate the performance of an EV.

That's a small part of it IMO.

If they had gone a little more towards a traditional look instead of shooting for the moon with the hideous and bizarre appearance of the Cybertruck, it may not have been such a complete commercial failure. The CT hit the same vicious circle that bit every other traditional OEM building EVs: It did not sell well enough to achieve scale production. CT owners praise them to high heaven. The test drive I took a while back was extremely impressive, but I'm just not a truck guy. That said, the prospect of riding around in the driver's seat of a CT with FSD 14 makes even someone like me dream.

The CT outward design was an ego project of Elon Musk that turned into a giant unforced error. Instead of at least making some impact on a huge segment because "you can't beat the F150 by making another F150", there has been zero impact.

But to some Elonistas, he can do no wrong.

On the other hand, the Tesla semi is going to smoke the competition as it ramps to scale production over the next 12-18 months. This is what can happen when "Space Karen" (as brilliant as he is sometimes) doesn't slip into clown mode.

Why are you posting about car sales? I thought car sales doesn't matter anymore?
Can't have it both ways muchacho.
