It sucks for us as Rockets fans lol but honestly the league us so deep and talented right now. The East is absolutely insane and it might be the deepest conference we have ever had. we could have 7 teams with close to 50 wins.

If you try to make sense of it... The more desperate teams are the ones that got fleeced. The question is why the Celtics were so desperate to get rid of Jaylen Brown. It's probably a combination of some toxicity and overrated analytical impact.

 

I think the entire reason the Celtics decided to trade JB is he wanted them to offer the extension, they had no intention of doing so and he was going to make them regret it. The additional 2yrs/$142M on top of his current contract is what plunged his value to the Celtics and every other team in the league.

I'm curious if the Sixers will extend him. If they don't, he's still locked in for 3yrs/$183M. My wild guess is they won't. LOL, maybe next summer if they win a championship.

This is so weird because teams with high value players are usually very patient and don't hesitate to wait things out. But on a video linked earlier, Shams said JB's trade value fell over the past week. Maybe the Celtics were spooked.

Fact is...it seems a lot of NBA GMs don't value Brown much at all.

 

I don't get why people are surprised. Every single non superstar who was on a supermax type deal has been traded for nothing. Trae, AD, towns, why would brown be any different.

 

The difference between all of those guys and Brown is that Brown just led a team that everyone wrote off during the off-season to a 56 win season and finished 6th in MVP voting. I think people focus to much on analytics and not enough on the player. JB is a good player and he is only going to make the 76ers better.

 

NBA will be fun to watch for the first month.. Then the reality of the Rockets being mid will take away my joy of basketball, at least what s left of it anyway... .. Rinse repeat since 2020

 

Ya, he's a good player, nobody is saying he's not. Towns is also a good player, so is AD. He is not however good enough to give you VALUE at a 35% max, and he is not someone who can be the best player on a title contender. He's also gonna be 30 this season, will be making more actually than the 35% max the 2 following seasons, AND will almost certainly demand an extension that will pay him into the 70s range when he's 33 and beyond.

Jaylen Brown is highly educated and told the truth about the media in his podcast somehow that makes him a must trade at all costs the GM should be fired.
