Their age doesnt matter as it is a 2 yr run this year and next year. All the old guys will expire in 2 yrs who cares what their age is now? You arent keeping them until they are 40. Boohoo Smart is 32 so what? Are we expecting a major dropoff in 2 yrs? If not then it doesnt matter.

Who cares what the overall age is the point is

    Sengun
    Amen
    Jabari
    Reed
    Tari
    Thornton

All 23 and younger. We still have 2 likely lotto picks next year, our pick in 2028 and another lotto pick in 2029.

All this talk about getting older is just disengenuous.

Its a random sample size. Knicks have an age range 29-31 and Kat is 32 but over 32 is way too old LMAO. The posters here just make up **** just to complain.

Oh yeah we so geriatric man Sengun Amen Jabari Reed Tari Thornton all so old and about to retire.

Sorry I was referring to starters. Wasnt as obvious as I thought I guess. Also Barnes basically got no minutes in the finals and only averaged like 9 mins and 2 points in the other series. He wasnt a significant part of the team. The times are changing older guys are not gonna get it done. There's a reason KD was injured. He's ****ing old. He needs to be traded now.

If your main weakness is ranked 10th in the league then you are doing something right...

28th in attempts maybe is an argument. 4 fewer attempts than #3 portland.

Of the 10 teams to attempt the most 3s, only 4 teams made the playoffs and only 1 of them won a series. Doesn't seem like the best strategy.

He started more than half their games. The point was he ran out of gas and they couldn't use him which supports your theory.

No we dont in fact Amen and Sengun need to get older and reach their prime instead of being young and 23 yrs old.

Sorry bro, I saw it differently. I think he dribbled a lot aimlessly and was too slow to set the plays. Could very well be the fact that he is not a pure PG and rather an SG. I think he had pretty solid mid-range shooting but lacked confidence.

How did their offense rank in the postseason, when people are trying.

Would’ve signed Kennard over Smart who has gotten the same deal.

Other than better shooting during the regular season and worse defense, Reed is an FVV clone. Dribbles around aimlessly with very rarely getting vertical. Maybe, and, probably, can get better, but it is definitely a weakness in his game that will prevent him from being a starting PG/SG if he can’t correct them. Unfortunately, I don’t think he gets the minutes to progress if FVV is healthy.

I like the Smart signing - he's older but he's tough, I liked what he did for LA last year.

Didn't pay too much for Bogdan either. I like having another shooter, but I dunno if Ime gives him playing time, if he's not able to get defensive stops

I like Smart when he was on the Celtics but feel like he's much more washed now... hopefully he doesn't turn into DFS 2.0.

Anyways... We're heading towards another first round exit.

After watching this team last year without Fred, and not knowing how Fred will look coming back, I am all for this signing. A cheap reliable veteran. I wish he could shoot - but if he could we wouldn't be able to afford him.

LOL What a weird comment. OK? What does you wanting them to be in their prime have to do with what I said about the old guys. You should really read for context.

No doubt that both signings are good depth signings. But since neither move the needle much, I think it comes down to how you feel about a rerun of the basketball u saw played last season, which to me was really hard to watch. Fred is not coming back the same player after his knee “exploded”. Steveo is likely not coming back the same either. Marcus Smart is not much of a facilitator or spacer. We are gonna have the same issues because we haven’t addressed them through draft, trade or FA. So I don’t think there’s much to look forward to. On the positive side, this could be a make or break yr for Ime and the front office. At least they aren’t blowing all their assets in a futile attempt to chase aging stars that don’t make us realistic contenders. Something I feared could happen.

You said we need to get younger. Our core guys need to get older like in 2018 Harden was 28 not 23.

Outside OKC and SAS all the contending teams are old, 28+. We dont need to get younger we need to get older.

I said that in the context of the guys over 32. Again read for context.
