While I think the spotlight is on Ime and his coaching now and Ime clearly favors defensive foundation.... I do agree, Reed needs to be good enough to make Ime play him more.

I hope Reed takes his strength training very seriously this offseason.

But don't you worry this is a half measure, we are bringing in all these old injury prone players to make KD happy, the problem is they are old, and frankly not that great anymore - but you just know IME will play them more than the young guys who need the reps.

We are not rebuilding, we are not developing, we are not contending

This sucks, IMHO....we picked a direction of nothing.

Minny kept Dosunmu and they got Lamelo and Josh Green.
    Milwaukee got our guy Ware.
Flakers got Grimes and Sexton .... FFS.
    PHX got Bridges and Kennard
    Brooklyn got Randle
Portland got Ja (we dodged a bullet).
    The Clippers got Dicked.
Charlotte ended up with Naz .... WTF.
Boston got 39 year old Mike Conley.

    We just got Stoned. Again.

I get what you are saying but the draft was also extremely weak right? After Castle and Sarr you have massive dropoff and prob the 3rd pick is already Ajay Mitchell who was a junior in college and got picked in the 2nd round.

Reed is a nice prospect but his defensive lapses and tendency to gamble are the reasons he is put on a short leash by the coach. He will need time to develop so a guy like Bogdan can serve as an example for him similar to how Harden was benched for Thabo Sefalosha.

What are you complaining about? lol

    Mike Conley? Are you serious?
Milwaukee got Ware cuz they traded freaking Giannis. Is that Stones fault???

Bridges and Kennard? Bridges cost an unprotected FRP and Kennard while a nice player would be redundant with Reed and also play sparingly due to his bad defense.

    Randle? lol

Charlotte got Naz Reid cuz they traded an all star.

If the draft was that weak, Stone should have then traded out completely instead of dedicating that much salary, and contract length to a guy who is admittedly not good enough to justify where he was drafted even by those who are hardcore fans of the guy.

So to be fair.... the whole "it was a weak draft" thing is.. kind of a cop out excuse....

I just get tired of onlyfans here just removing any agency that a player has in the equation, and just whine and complain about the coach. Yes... Ime is not that great of a coach IMO, and terrible on the offensive end. That being said Reed's playing time and role IS ON REED. The team last year had like 7 true NBA players. 5 healthy ones. If you cannot on a team that shallow do things to force a coach to give you a role than that has to be an indictment of you as a player IMO. Take it personally that Aaron Holiday is getting minutes over you. Freaking go out there, and bust your a$$.

I also wouldn't say that Harden was "benched" for Sefalosha. I think people either were too young or don't remember those OKC teams. Harden was their offense especially late in games. The only reason why Miami beat OKC was because they took Harden out of the game (a model that proceeded every playoff series after that for teams playing against Harden teams) and the rest of the team couldn't run an effective alternate offense. Westbrook then was just putting up empty stats without their offense really clicking enough to compete with Miami.

Harden came off the bench for the sheer fact that they felt they needed to stagger Westbrook and Harden. However in end of games situations, Harden was the man Brooks trusted to make plays, and Harden made their offense click by BREAKING DOWN the opposing team's defense in the pick and roll by his ability earlier in his career to get to the rim, and make great passes to a roller or to shooters for open shots.

Anyone comparing 2nd or 3rd year Harden to whatever Reed Sheppard was for the Rockets last year is insane, and does not know WTF they are talking about.

Unless Celts were willing to accept FVV + DFS + Adams + 3 FRPS (PHX 2027, HOU 2028, HOU 2030 all top 5 protected) for Brown & Queta... I would probably avoid this trade from an Htown perspective.

Yes, I know that is an extreme lowball... but just MHO. I would be wiling to include up to three SRPs to ensure Queta is in the deal.

39 year old Mike Conley .... was I really serious?

The point was that all those teams (accept Boston) made moves to get better, Stone and Ime doubled down on old and injured with Smart and Bogdanovic.

Yesterday I watched a Stone / Ime presser .... where Stone stated he believed in the Ime philosophy rebound and rebound .... but they can't break 79 points in a playoff elimination game.
I've been one of the few to defend Stone but I'm out on that .... no more. He's lost his mind with the over the hill gang.

I really dont have an issue with signing Bogdan or Smart in a vacuum.

But with Ime as coach, this will turn into a disaster. Smart will be the next FVV playing 5000 mpg, and Bogdan will not be used correctly and his shooting will get even worse here.

You are just WRONG - if it were on Reed as you say.....17-4 as a starter would mean you would lean into him because his mistakes don't matter.

If it were on Sengun - then Ime blowing a ****ing gasket when he took ONE ill-advised 3 late in a game and Sengun had been improving shooting over 40% on the previous 10 games.....after Ime's childish display it crashed into the teens.

COACHES have everything to do with a career and whether it succeeds, Ime was a BORDERLINE NBA player a HORRIBLE offensive player - barely hanging on in the league, and that is how he coaches, he looks for IME like players and OVER PLAYS THEM to the detriment of winning overall.

Ime would never play Manu Ginobli like Pop did because he couldn't stand the creativity and mistakes that sometimes happen, but those are the same things that gave Manu something special, both REED AND SENGUN are special and yes, they will make mistakes, Amen too.....

The difference is IME yanks REED out like a ****ING YO YO - 17-4 says any intelligent human would go, well he makes mistakes but we win at a MASSIVE .809 clip.....so he plays.

Instead in the playoffs there was a game he played 10 minutes, oh, we still lost it by the way.

If you think Ime is going to suddenly embrace Reed - then you are a fool, he wants robots who play hard on D, and rebound, he is not a guy who values the MOST important thing an NBA player can do - SHOOT well.

And he is a STAR ****ER afraid to criticize players like Durant when they make a ton of mistakes....he still keeps ****ing that chicken by giving Durant the ball at the top - and we keep losing because of it to teams that double.

So yeah....PISS OFF on calling anyone an ONLY FAN - we are all Rockets fans, who KNOW....FOR A FACT that Reed is a winner and the team is better with him playing and frankly starting.

Bogdan can teach Reed Sheppard so many off ball offensive sets.

DD… you are a Clutchfans legend, but if you don’t have the self awareness to realize you get bit constantly with the only-fans bug then I don’t know what to tell you brother.

VSpan… I’m sure that was totally the coaches fault he didn’t stick. D-Mo… that’s all on McFail. Whitmore… nothing to do with his play and maturity issues one bit.

I know you are Rockets for life but when it comes to your only fan obsessions, it’s insane how those player you get married to never have any agency in their careers and it’s always the coaches fault or Morey’s or whomever. You put these guys on the highest pedestal imaginable.
