Don't exactly disagree but the logic is a bit circular. Bible stories references litter literature and culture because artists knew everyone was familiar. So now we have to continue to be familiar to get the references from a generation that had been familiar. By the same token, we can lean in hard on Incan mythology and eventually start producing great artworks relying on your familiarity with Incan stories.
