If we're trading for Brown, KD has to be the one going. They're both good players but having just one hard caps a team in insecure weirdo energy. Having both is a guaranteed toxic locker room.
I'm starting to get nervous we might actually get involved. What if we do something like FVV, DFS, and Reed for JB? We'd give up a very significant portion of our pick capital (if not all) in a scenario like this, but we'd have a core of Alpi/Jabari/KD/JB/Amen, with a decent bench (assuming we keep Tari). The salaries are close. I'd imagine we'd be competitive if we can stay healthy.
Something is definitely up, we all know Ime loves JB, and for FVV to post all those cryptic IG posts is suspect. Now, Boston is saying they need to get a star player in return…. We have KD (one of the biggest stars ever) they just signed Mitchell Robinson for their center role and signed Mike Conley… this is pointing towards a KD for JB trade. I could see us giving up one more player and maybe a pick.
I doubt Boston would do it, but that would be the kind of trade I could at least be ok, if not super excited over. If it was 4 picks I’d want it to be 27 Phx, 28 Hou, 29 Phx or Dallas, 30 hou. That would at least hold out some good assets moving forward and we would have KD’s expiring to make further moves at the deadline or in 27/28 season. Amen, Brown, KD, Jabari, Sengun would still aesthetically suck, but it would at least give us some semblance of being competitive. I think Ime would be happy. He could just hand it over to Brown or KD at the half-court line and not have to do any offensive coaching at all. An Iso-centric offense on steroids.
I’d rather trade for Jamal Murray if that’s actually possible. Feel like he wouldn’t cost nearly as much in picks. Would be much better for team play and development vs KD or Brown KD, Reed, Fred for Murray, Johnson, Nnaji works Play with an all star PG next season and fill out the rest of the guard rotation with both 27’ picks
If we’re giving up Reed, I’m not also giving up a ton of draft capital. Now, modify the trade a little to be, say, Brown and Queta for something like FVV, DFS, and Adams, and I'd empty the draft coffers.
Any combination that included KD going out for Brown doesn't make us any better. We're still a first round exit team at best. Only way this works is to have KD, Brown, Amen, Jabari and a healthy FVV as our starting 5 most nights.
Why is everyone trying to trade KD? Because of some tweets?! He's the slim reaper. Without him we would have been irrelevant. We needed the other guys to step up and many didn't. FVV I get. Can we chill on KD? Maybe instead, focus on what's around him: Amen: Become more then a slasher on offense R33D: Improve 3pt efficiency and become more offensively Bari: Keep improving your mid range game and offensive rebounds AlP: Be better all together. Too skilled to struggle the way he has Tari: Build IQ Now we have Smart and Bogi. I'm sure players like Okogie and Tate/Holiday will sign for vet mins. Now if we are flipping FVV, DFS and fillers for JB...I'm down.
Agreed. It has to be for Sengun plus something. Plus you need to split Amen and Sengun. You won't win a round in the playoffs with those two on the floor together.
Brown gives us bigger window to play with. KD would get to go to competitive team. Involving KD would be the best. If we could do separate S&T with Tari and KD + 1 of our future pick + filler then I would do it
Thank you. Guys that are so supportive of KD on this team are box score watchers or basketball casuals. Whether it was Ime or KD’s inability to play team ball, I really don’t know. His shooting is elite, no doubt. Spamming difficult 2’s is not a winning strategy in today’s NBA. He is no longer a good defensive player (and very lazy about it), Turns the ball over a lot and at the worst possible times, not a good rebounder, and blasts his teammates on social media. He doesn’t play PnR so FVV’s not being here is not a cause for our horrendous half-court offense (which was also terrible with FVV the year before). FVV can’t drive and dish, so he does not help KD in any respect. He also got hurt for the playoffs and it is easily a 50/50 bet he stays relatively healthy for the third straight season. We need to sell high on KD, but Stone will wait like he did with Jalen and get pennies on the dollar.
