Unpopular opinion, but I think I prefer Aaron Holiday to Bogdan. I expected an underwhelming offseason, but sometimes hard to imagine the underwhelming until in the middle of it.

I don’t mind if it’s for the minimum. I just hope there are other moves coming or this was unnecessary.

    Again. Meh.

    Getting older and older...

This is what happens when your front office is worried about getting fired. Play it old and safe. Nothing really wrong with the signing though.

Bogdanovic when healthy is just as good as Kennard, if not better. I hope he still has some left in the tank.

FWIW, this was their buyout target in February. As some of you may recall, there was uncertainty over whether they'd sign a buyout or simply convert JD Davison (which they eventually did) — the reason for that was buying time to see if Bogdan would come available.

He was interested, but Bogdan and/or his agent ultimately came to the conclusion that it was too risky to do a buyout when he had a $16-million team option for 2026-27. Even though he wasn't playing much with the Clippers, there was at least a chance that it might get picked up for salary matching in a trade. Once that didn't happen, he signed here at the minimum.

We'll see what happens. We think he had some bad luck with injuries and wasn't used properly in LAC, but if that ends up wrong, it's just a minimum flyer. It is worth noting that Denver wanted him, as well, so it's not like the Rockets were the only team interested in experimenting here.

Who is "WE" are you working with the Rockets now?

    Congratulations. PR or Front office?

    heh - just kidding.

Or are you saying this is what the Rox thought, and why they signed him?

Ha. You know me, I don't pretend to be anything other than biased.

But yes, to clarify, I'm referring to the team's thinking there.

Atp, do we even have a timeline? Like, what are we doing? We traded for ancient KD and are either making no moves at the trade deadline or marginal moves in free agency for a team that is 1st round fodder.

Bogdon will be 34 before the season starts and has issues staying healthy. It’s a vet min, so whatever, but are we even trying to seriously compete or just tread on by each year?

You said Smart was a complete negative on the court, I replied pointing out that he lead his team in plus minus and that darling Reed was actually a negative for us last year by quite a bit, you replied with Reed having better box score numbers, I reply again pointing out the +- split regarding the "complete negative player", and now you reply telling me that I'm digging a hole, am embarrassing myself and definitely have no case.

It doesn't make any sense, but if you feel that crafting a narrative from nothing is the way to go here, ok.

He is a complete negative on the court, the fact that others are even worse does not suggest otherwise.

He's been an outright washed up scrub for 5 years now, on par with last season's Aaron Holiday.

How many games before Reed is pulled after missing 2 3s in a row and replaced by Bogdan. Then how many games before he replaces Reed on the depth chart. Then how many games before the end of the season when he gets injured and Ime is forced to use Reed. I like Bogdan 5 years ago. I would rather we just keep Holiday. He's healthy and short like our draft pick. Then we can run Adams with FVV, Reed, Holiday, and Thorton. Call it the Adam and the Ants line-up and play "Stand and Deliver" in game. Maybe have promotions built around it. wamp wamp.

Smart was +7.4 on court, what do you mean by "because others are worse"?

I've again, seen you quote +- scores from individual games to claim a players superiority before when their raw numbers looked horrific.

You're claiming he's a total negative, and I'm showing you that his team was better with him on the court than literally any other player on his 4th seed team this year, Smart flat out had one of the highest on-off splits in the league this year, Laker fans are really positive about Smarts impact for them if you look at what they're saying.

Whether you're looking at the numbers, or ask for the eye test, Smart was empirically a very positive impact player for the Lakers last season.
