Europe on the whole has better labor protection than the US, but Germany is an outlier even for Europe in terms of labor protection laws. There are also some cultural differences at play, but plenty of Americans take extended trips to other parts of the world for things like the World Cup or Olympics.
Europeans (and others) also take gap years between schooling or jobs and aren't expected to "explain their missing job history"
I was all for dumping Dubon IF they used that money to add an OF in a trade this offseason and said so at the time.
Yea? Let's see how many of them are willing to move here after visiting. How often do people think to themselves "oh man, I could move here" while on vacation or trip out of the country? If you say this thought has never crossed your mind, you're a fuggin liar. No shiet they appreciate the country. They're on vacation. Lemme guess, you hate every countries you visit and can't wait to get back home to the US of A.
What? I would love to live in Belise. It's not about the vacations. It's about the Big Gulps/Large portions of food, more living space etc... that they like. Many would choose to live here if they could, I've got friends that are Welsh whose dad moved over here and they would love to move here if they could, work keeps them from moving. But you keep on hating this country. Far more people risk life and limb for the opportunity to live here than want to leave this country. Thing is you dont appreciate what you've got in this country. Apparently all you want to do is work less, which is certainly your right, you can work as little as you want too, but dont have class envy when somebody who is willing to work harder than you is more successful than you are. People who work hard to be successful have to make sacrifices in life like missing their kids ballgames/ marriages etc.... but the trade off for this is great. Isn't it great that in this country you've got the freedom to decide what type of life you want to live? In socialist countries citizens dont have the ability to have these choices.
Respectfully, you clearly have no idea what the **** you’re talking about with those 2 sentences. But by all means try your damnedest to steer the board to politics and non-baseball talk.
Apologies for being blunt, but this is incredibly stupid. You can live any type of life you want in any 'socialist' country, or even in theoretically 'communist' countries like China. In fact, I work for a European who is probably richer than anyone you've ever met, and my salary is healthy despite working for a European company. The difference in a country with a strong social safety net (which I assume is what you mean by 'socialist' given you are talking about Europe), you don't have to stash away life savings to pay for devestating health issues or worry about outliving your savings. And my taxes were exaclty the same in Europe as in the US. I'm done engaging on this topic as it is the wrong forum and you clearly have your mind made up despite having no firsthand experience, but I couldn't let such absurdity pass.
I am self-banned from the DnD so hopefully changing the subject back to beisbol. It is crazy the we have played 6 more games than the AL leading Rays at this point. Hopefully these days off down the stretch will help our guys. I know Yordan really needs a break every once in awhile. And Cam, and Pena, and our bully....
All true, but also look at the European visitors that are just awestruck over the regular daily luxuries and excess that is available to Americans every day. They also have commented how much nicer Americans are than Europeans. They come here and are equally impressed visiting here as we are visiting there. Europeans live happy, but they also live very simple. They will live in a flat, drive a Fiat or moped. Work a little, make a little, need a little....not a bad way to live for sure, but it's not for everybody.
I travel for 3-4 weeks at a time overseas every year. As much as I love spending time in Europe, I couldn't live there for any more than 2 to 3 months at a time. I miss the amenities and little freedoms in the US too much. The US gives us the right to... -speedy internet -cheaper gas -actual bacon at stores -eating meals without smoke puffed in my face -central air -easier parking
France has faster Internet and very good bacon. The central air is legit except most places in Pacific NW and California dotn have central air either. The parking part is legit but they have better public transportation and cheaper airfare and trains to get to get to other countries.
I'm going to bow out after this post because I don't want to derail this thread Tell me a country where socialism, communism is the government in charge and the people are prosperous There's a reason so many people risk their lives try to come to our country and it's damned sure not because we're a socialist, communist country. Good thing is if you have personal responsibility in this country then you will most likely be successful. If not then not so much.
