He does proper playmaking. Not everything os all about mindless star chasing. Sengun will be more impactful with other guys who can handle the ball so he doesnt to always get it at the 3 pt line. Reed and Amen will be better not having to playmake so they can do their roles off the ball. We also got Bogdonovich and Thornton to provide more shooting. FVV Adams and DFS expire after this year and the year after KD, Capela and Smart expire. If this flops you will have your complete reset along with lotto picks in 2027 and 2029.
I am not sure they can get no 1 from OKC unless J Dub is injured again. But other than OKC everything is fair game imo.
Smart shot 39% from the field and 33% from 3 last season....and that was playing next to multiple extremely talented playmakers. I don't exactly envision that getting better with worse spacing and playmaking around him.
Ime will play the hell out of these below average players and r****d the growth of those that need playing time to get better. This is a middle ground plan, get KD a couple of vets (who are always injured) to try to win now - WON'T WORK......and it will slow development of players who are entering their prime. Should go all in on the young ones and sell the old tired broken down glue factory guilders ! DD
I just hope Adams is healthy. 4 extra possessions= 3 more points a night. Isaac would be welcomed too. He knows how to Grab and foul without getting called for fouls. Draymond, Adebayo, Hartenstein, Adams and Isaac are exceptional at that.
https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sp...houston-marcus-smart-free-agency-22326721.php Smart's addition could limit playing time for one of the team's best shooters, Reed Sheppard. The third pick in the 2024 draft saw a huge jump in minutes in his second season but still found himself on the Rockets' bench behind other guards due to defensive inconsistency. Stone noted at the end of the season that he didn't envision VanVleet's return limiting either of Houston's young point guards, Sheppard and Thompson, and that he envisioned the former as the team's future starter at the position. VanVleet and Sheppard could play together, he said. Thompson's positional versatility means he can play alongside both. That is also possible with Smart but still, after drafting Bruce Thornton with the 31st pick, the Rockets have a lot of guards on the roster ahead of a crucial season for them and Sheppard — the guard becomes extension eligible at the end of the campaign.
One hopes these "moves" (it doesn't hurt to add depth, shallow as it might be) preclude an upgrade trade. Something. Chipping at the edges alone? Is this what Stonedoka promised in postseason flop-sweat to Tilman Fertitta? Stone: "Marcus Smart! Bogdan Bogdanovic!" (Tilman turns to son) "Are they any good?" (son withers under Udoka's glare) "If we can get them, sure." (Tilman points at Stonedoka) "You better make this happen."
Get ready for some bone-headed turnovers or flops resulting in open buckets for the opponents. Seen it too many times.
He signed a fine, low cost contract for a few years. We needed a PG. Eh. He's not who I would've picked but whatever. He's been hurt a lot and doesn't shoot threes well. It is what it is.
But you admit your actuals are also theoreticals right? Lets just say I am optimistic and you are pessimistic.
