team still ain’t sh*t in the West, but this is at least better than the DFS abomination of a signing Stone did last offseason
This is a fantastic A+ signing. Stone even used FVV opting to only offer Smart a 2 yr deal at 6M rather than the 3 yr deal at 7M that was originally promised. We also still kept DFS, who I refuse to believe will still be as bad as last year.
What are you talking about? This team is 3rd best at worst now and prob as good as SAS if Adams and Sengun can contain Wemby.
Except against us in the playoffs. Pair that with the Ime connection. "Can we get him?" "It won't be easy..."
When healthy Rockets are now extremely good and extremely deep. Sengun/Jabari/KD/Amen/FVV Adams/Smart/Reed/Bogdanovich/Thornton Capela/Qadir/Okogie (?)/DFS (?) The team is a lot deeper than SAS who only has Harper/Kornet/Champagne and Harrison Barnes
I said if they can contain Wemby. Without Wemby they arent as good. Adams and Sengun can be physical with Wemby like Kat and Mitchell Robinson. They have mass to rough him up.
It’s fine. If someone told me last yr we’d be focused on getting Marcus Smart as our big offseason acquisition I’d cry, but it is what it is.
Not bad Adding FVV, Adams, Smart & Bogdan to last years team will put us in contention for a top 2 seed Yall forget OKC lost Wiggins & Isaiah Joe. Lakers losing Lebron, Kennard & Smart. The way I see it, it's between Spurs, Thunder, or Rockets for the top 2 seeds
We are definitely not deeper than SAS. Lets start talking in actuals rather than hypotheticals. FVVs knee sounds like it's shot so I imagine if he does suit up for the Rockets this season that he may be load managed or he may end up missing a bunch of games anyways due to knee pain. Adams, probably won't be at full strength until some time in February and will have to be load managed. Bogdan, likely will have injury issues, so will Smart. Thorton, meh, probably won't play much his first year. Capela, probably got fatter over the summer with the Houston diet, probably won't have much of an impact. Qadir? Who? DFS, his career looked to be over last year, he couldn't even move his feet quick enough to be an effective defender for us. Yeah, hardly a deep team. It's a mirage.
You want to talk actuals but everything you said is a hypothetical. "I imagine...." "Probably..." "Likely..." Do you know diff between hypothetical and actual? If you wanna talk actuals, Spurs had **** bench production last year and reached the finals mainly due to the strength of Wemby, Harper and Castle. Against Knicks who were able to contain Wemby Spurs didnt have enough to win. Did they add anybody? They just resigned Barnes iirc. Spurs pretty lucky last year no one major had an injury for them. What about this year? Who knows. OTH, Rockets reached game 6 against Lakers with 100M in injuries and virtually no contribution from the bench. Nobody knows what shape FVV, Adams, Smart, Bogdonovich and Thornton will be in but at least they are additions to what we already had last year so they can only help and not hurt.
Glad it wasn't 3 years. I doubt he's a game changer, but he adds another body. Move mostly concerns me if it causes Rockets to spend an asset to move off a contract.
All these old injury prone guys - Ime will run them into the ground, This is some of the worst mismanagment of a roster in history. But both Bogy and Smarty pants are to appease KD.....these are short term plays....while the young guys get better. It hurts development trying to win now......Stone is an idiot. DD
I don't hate the move in a vacuum. Those are reasonable numbers for what should still be a competent NBA rotation player. However this does nothing to complement our young players and make them better. I know people will rave about him being a competent PG who can initiate a basic set for KD, but this team is not a competent PG away from contending. We need proper playmaking and floor space, neither of which does he do. And because he's an Ime guy, you know Ime is gonna play him big minutes every time he has the slightest excuse to. Anything we do that isn't trading for a star or doing something to try and make Sengun/Reed/Amen more impactful players is just pointlessly rearranging s**t.
Denver lost Hardaway Jr & Minnesota regressed as well trading Naz & Randle Rockets are in perfect position to go for the #1 seed if u ask me and can still maneuver by the trade deadline
