It’s pretty simple. Wanna change the amendment then have Congress do it.

a so-called American willfully ignorant of US history.

Ever heard of the Dred Scott v Sanford decision?

The 14th Amendment, ratified in 1868, was a direct constitutional response to the Supreme Court’s 1857 Dred Scott v. Sandford decision

Yes, one politician that people are spellbound by told him that he should care about it, and now it's suddenly a big deal to him.

Similar to transgender bathroom laws. The rules the GOP thinks are destroying the country were standard in every state all through the 1900s and early 2000s until the GOP told people to care. That led to North Carolina's bathroom bill, and suddenly the the entire GOP is outraged by something they had no problems with for generations.

Basically, the GOP has turned their followers into lemmings who don't actually think for themselves.

If it chaps your ass, amend the constitution.

If we're just all going to consider the constitution optional, I don't want to hear **** when the next Democratic president arbitrarily decides "times have changed in the last 150 years" and the second amendment is just a suggestion and confiscates every gun in america and then puts every MAGAt in jail for hate speech.

You don't get to pick and choose when the Constitution actually matters and when its just a vague suggestion.

Its an all or nothing proposition. Either the Constitution matters or we throw the entire f**king thing out the window and anything goes. I promise, you MAGA wouldn't like how option "B" would work out for you.

All this conservative bellyaching is really rich.

The constitution is crystal ****ing clear about birthright citizenship.

You do not care about the rule of law, only your ideology and the power to wield it.

I am originalist except when I don't like what they wrote. Then I am ardent living constitutionalist.

    False. Free lesson.

United States v. Wong Kim Ark | Constitution Center

The real object of the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution, in qualifying the words, “All persons born in the United States” by the addition “and subject to the jurisdiction thereof,” would appear to have been to exclude, by the fewest and fittest words (besides children of members of the Indian tribes, standing in a peculiar relation to the National Government, unknown to the common law), the two classes of cases – children born of alien enemies in hostile occupation and children of diplomatic representatives of a foreign State – both of which, as has already been shown, by the law of England and by our own law from the time of the first settlement of the English colonies in America, had been recognized exceptions to the fundamental rule of citizenship by birth within the country. . . .

No. The amendment specifically forbids that. That is what “jurisdiction” means.
Someone who isn’t a foreign military or diplomat is under US as they are subject to US laws. Even someone who entered illegally is still subject to US laws otherwise the killer of Laken Riley couldn’t have been prosecuted. Only deported.

Congress cannot unilaterally change the Constitution. That was Kavanaugh’s opinion but he should know that a Constitutional amendment requires ratification by the states.

one politician threw open the border and invited millions of illegals to settle here.

the same politician turned a blind eye to a Chinese government led effort to create thousands of anchor babies.

absent those two, particularly the first, this case wouldn't even have existed.

Stopping by and while I am happy that this ruling prevented a blatantly unconstitutional executive order that would redefine who can be an American. Never forget though that four justices said that the plain language of the Constitution can be overturned by either the President alone or an act of Congress. Keep that in mind when they argue for the literal text of the Constitution.

Also for all of those both politicians and others who are ranting about how this is just allowing a foreign invasion to replace “real Americans” as someone who under the definition of the executive order is an anchor baby I and the millions of other anchor babies are not here to replace real Americans.
    WE ARE REAL AMERICANS.

I will put want I have done with my life for this country and the city of Houston up against most whose ancestors have been here for generations. There are millions of anchor babies who have done far more than me for this country.

Why can’t someone’s whose parents came from China not be an American?

So why is that a problem if those babies become Americans?
