35% is good for a 22 year old with his shot diet, that can dribble, pass, run fast, and guard POA.

Jabari is older and shot 36% on mostly wide opens, that’s his only job.

They have the same career 3pt %.

Money doesn’t work. I also don’t think KD would want to go to Portland and I really do think you only trade him if he wants out and you send him where he wants to be. He chose Houston, shouldn’t mistreat an all time great at the end of his career. It’s bad karma.

He's only 22, and he's dealt with a lot of injuries that have likely been hampering his performance. If he weren't damaged goods at this point there would be no chance of getting him. These are the kinds of swings we should probably be taking, on prospects that scouts thought had star potential and are a little roughed up, but still have a chance to turn things around and reach their potential. It probably won't work out, just like with our own draft picks, but the more shots you take the better the odds one of them pans out

I guess, but those are bottom of the barrel options

Are we actually trying to compete in the West and build a coherent team, or just going after guys because they’re a bit less sh*tty than what we currently have?

I’d eat a boiled, unseasoned chicken breast over a moldy spam sandwich, but at the end of the day, I want some real food. I want an actual meal instead of slop.

35% from deep is not good, and neither is 42% from the field

77% of Scoot’s threes are assisted, and let’s please not act like teams are going all out to contest a Scoot Henderson jump shot…his efficiency is still very subpar with all that being the case

Jabari is mediocre and his shooting has been a disappointment, so Idk what I’m supposed to do with that information.

I think the draw with Scoot is upside. He just hasn’t played much due to injury. When he has played he’s looked pretty good. He was impressive in the playoffs and down the stretch of the regular season when he finally got healthy and shook off the rust from being out most of the yr. The shooting has improved every season. Hes a good defender. He’s only 22. Is he perfect? Of course not. Is there risk? Of course. Is there upside? Definitely. You don’t give up the farm for him, but he’s definitely worth acquiring for the right price. He’s going to be an RFA so this season will determine his payday. He’s got to prove he can play 70+ games this season. If he does I think he will be very productive. But obviously there’s a backcourt minutes crunch now in Portland.

Of course, they'd have to add filler, but....that would be the value from the Portland side.

I get where you're coming from Trey, but as much as KD has moved....plus he'd go to a contender (or a team that's under the illusion of it/just happy to be there) with a lot of pieces in place. That's where his value lies.
At the end of the day, we have to do what is best for us right now.

Is it supposed to be rare for a guard to shoot better than 42% from the field and below average from deep before the age of 23? He’s not even a good playmaker either. Career 18% turnover rate. Is his defense special? I don’t think so

y’all so focused on age and never focused on if a guy can actually play or fits the current roster

How many below average shooters and weak playmakers do y’all want on one roster?

his true shooting % has improved every yr despite injuries. Shooting is not the concern. It’s his health. Scoot has been injury prone going all the way back to his time with the Overtime Elite. He’s actually developing into a good shooter. It’s the health. And I do think that’s a significant risk. I’d bet on the shooting, hard to bet on the health.

    That's a lot.
Blazers casting ALL their youth to the side and going for it?

5 playoff games where he had 6 total assists. As the PG.

And yet people are perfectly fine with Amen's sub-30% shooting from 3. Let's just trade Amen for Scoot and picks.

Pretty sure Portland would laugh at a KD for Scoot proposal.

they'd be thrilled, KD is a top 15 player in the NBA and is on a very cost controlled contract. I wish this fanbase would understand how good he is.

    yikes

    he also had 9 turnovers

so 6 assists to 9 turnovers in 5 playoff games

Aside from him being “young,” what would he add to this team? We’ve got plenty of inefficient scorers that can’t really playmake and turn the ball over a lot.

nothing, he's a lottery ticket, which in itself is fun. 6-9 wingspan, incredibly high rated prospect. The idea would be that the Rockets believe he is fixable, which doesn't seem to be the MO of this front office (after the KPJ stuff especially). People miss the days of Morey trying over and over to reclaim people. For every Chauncey Billups there are 20 Terrence Williams, but maybe, just maybe, Scoot is a Chauncey, he did play for him after all.
