The choking on both sides in that shootout was crazy. Then on the 5th try, the Moroccan goalie blocks a good kick and they follow it out with the game-winner. The emotional damage of losing a knockout game in the World Cup on penalty kicks is so brutal. It's Canada/Morocco at NRG Saturday. I've seen Morocco play a couple of times and kind of like them but have no clue about Canada. Seat pricing starts at $1,000. LOL!
And as usual we lose by penalty kicks. Not surprising. That being said, we deserved to loose, and we had no shot of winning this tournament, so it doesn't hurt. This is so different from the 90s when we lost after PK and I really felt we were the best team in the world. Now let's see what a good coach can do with these players. Altough I do not expect much. I did like Marokko, I hope they advance far this tournament.
The Netherlands Morocco game was a pretty awful watch. Morocco played better, created more chances while Netherlands decided to play super conservative. Despite that, Morocco passed on the backline for the majority of extra time to retain possession knowing that Netherlands wouldn't press. But all that passing and probing made an awfully slow game. Of course, PKs was high drama. That made up for the dud of extra time. Netherlands didn't deserve to win after such a poor showing.
