Agreed I NEVER want to see that guy on this team Brown and Jocic - not good for the Rockets Rocket River
[Goodwill] The LA Clippers, Portland Trail Blazers, and Denver Nuggets are among the teams that have expressed interest in Jaylen Brown, with one executive telling ESPN the Clippers “want Brown bad”.
[Fischer] Jaylen Brown’s market has been described as “tepid” with teams around the league not valuing Brown highly due to his contract and impending 2-year max contract extension.
Most NBA front offices are smart enough to know that he's a very good player, but he's not as good as he's getting paid like he is or as good as he clearly thinks he is. His best role is clearly as a #2 option. Tatum is just straight-up better, and Tatum has never been in the top 3 in MVP voting. Point being, you don't have give a #2 option the supermax. There was a ton of debate even among Celtics fans about whether Brown was worth that contract when he got it. Now he wants an extension at even more money. Boston is going to be asking for multiple draft picks plus you have to take on Brown's contract. It really hamstrings your flexibility as an organization to go trade for him. I've not been very happy with the front office ever since FVV and Adams got hurt and it became clear that DFS was a terrible acquisition, but they're right to not be interested in paying the asking price for Jaylen Brown.
[Marks] “There is a spirited debate going on in front offices right now regarding Jaylen Brown. There's on one side the analytics debate and the analytics do not view Brown as a high-level player. A negative net rating over the last four years in Boston, minus 10 when he was on the court this year.”
Analytics might lower his trade value. No one can deny that he’s a NBA champion. Analytics has it’s limitations.
