I hope this comes as good news. He didn't remove his Rockets content. He's still got tons under his "Reels". The tweet is just talking about his "Posts" Here's a sample of his Reels.
Why? Did not play last season Coming back from a major injury 34 years old Mavericks are looking to move on This is your classic selling low buying low move.
He had hundreds of posts, many of which had nothing to do with basketball and were pictures of his family. Is he sending a message to his family, too? There are any number of reasons that someone might scrub/refresh their social media accounts. Take it from me, a person who has deactivated/reactivated/locked/unlocked his social media accounts hundreds of times. Maybe for you it would be "sending a message" to do that, but I don't think you can assume that for everyone else. To quote Fred from when he did something very similar in 2022 with Toronto: “Just trying to fight the algorithms, man. I'm checking my page, and it's like all s**t that I don't follow." "I unfollowed my mom too. They didn't care about that part." "I'm a real person. And that was it, really. nothing more, nothing less.”
Nothing quite like saying your above social media dumbification on a social media platform. Really drives the point home.
He didn’t scrub his reels. Still dozens of Rockets stuff. Maybe you can post a screenshot of his reels on X, with all those Rockets moments. Help stop any worry?
If Fred thinks he's about to be traded and scrubbed his profile on that basis, well okay. No one has to like being traded. But if Fred didn't get a decline & sign extension from the Rockets that he wanted and scrubbed his profile on that basis, well f**k him. No one made him pick up that option. I'll give Fred the benefit of the doubt, but if he's just pouting then clearly he's not the leader we've all been sold.
Now that Harden is 37 and nearing total wash status I think it's time to brung him back for FVV in an S&T Who's wif me
Good point, all the reels are still there, including co-posts with the Rockets. https://www.instagram.com/fredvanvleet/reels/ All that said, to clarify, I'm not saying he's not going through some stuff, mentally. ACL rehab is brutal, and especially when it coincides with key economic inflection points in a player's career. I'm sure he's feeling conflicted about a lot of stuff, and I think the team is understanding. It's just, out of fairness to Fred, I hope we don't make a huge deal out of every single thing. To some folks, he's becoming a virtual pinata for their frustrations, and I feel bad for him. (Especially after a season in which the on-court product clearly missed him.)
I don't know about the deleted material .... but now that FVV has opted in, Stone cannot simply let the contract expire because he'll lose that over the cap salary slot - He absolutely must trade FVV whether its now or at the deadline. Stone can't punt again.
FVV’s trade value is at it’s lowest right now, it might be better at the February trade deadline. The only way Fred can be traded right now is along a number of 1st round picks. DFS is in a similar position, just not as bad.
