Trading for Durant was about Stone saving face. The trade of Net’s picks for Phx picks was under the assumption that Phx would blow it up and send Booker to us for all the picks. When Phoenix called his bluff, he reverted to Durant. He also was getting heat for the Jalen contract. We should have just run it back with Jalen and Dillon or used them to secure someone younger and more athletic. It was a panic move. I’m hoping they don’t make another one.

This started cause I asked you the question (which you never answered, funny how that works).

By what metric is Ime a bottom 5 coach? I genuinely want to know. If you just made that up, just say so.

You are answering my question with a question and then mansplaining to me that I don't actually watch basketball.

I'm asking for DATA ...since you presented a factual statistic.
What is your source? Can I say it more clearly?

What you asked was based on a false premise, which I explained to you by saying "I never cited a stat, there is no valid mechanism by which to objectively rank coaches....it's inherently opinion based", perhaps it went over your head.

Asking for a metric when no valid metric exists is pretty stupid.

I went on to explain Ime's shortcomings as a coach that make him one of the worst head coaches in the league and asked you what you thought he did well since you are here acting as an Ime apologist.....and you couldn't come up with anything at all because your defense of that dogshit coach is entirely without basis.

You just basically keep saying "Ime just winz"....I'm glad he's your Tim Tebow, but I was hoping for something substantive.

But your whole argument is based on one metric. "He's a bottom 5 coach"
Now you say, "one of the worst head coaches in the league".

Too bad the data doesn't back you up.

I'll just accept your answer that it's "opinion based". Your opinion, that has no basis in fact, has been noted. I'm moving on.

As per my position, his failures in the playoffs are well documented and understood. I've stated, multiple times, that he has not demonstrated to be a HOF coach. His lack of willingness to play Reed seemed massively tone def.

But I'm not a binary person and understand that there are gradients. I don't evaluate life as all good or all bad. Apparently you do.

Let me guess, when you rate a restaurant, you either rate them a 1 or a 5. You are that guy that then adds a comment to the review and says you'd rank them a 0 if that was an option. Got it.

    Moving on.

A claim is not the same thing as a metric....you realize that, right?

I made a claim, a claim that is not in any way controversial among those who follow this team or the Celtics when he was there. I backed this claim with what I believe he does poorly.....and you disagree just to disagree.

I think at this point it's pretty clear that you are arguing just to argue and that you don't even believe your own BS....which is why you STILL have yet to say what you think Ime does that is in any way competent. You just say you think he's not bad despite not being able or willing to say what you think he actually does that is of any value whatsoever.

So you never once used the word "claim", whatever that means. So now you deflect using semantics? ... because you can't back up your position?

Your "claim" is that most people on this board would agree with you that he is a "bottom 5" coach? Again, you make a "claim" with no data. Why don't you start a pole.

Just stop making wild ass statements that are presented as fact.

Ime is an above average coach. The single biggest problem is that Ime doesn't have SGA or Wemby on his team. It's really hard to win a championship without a top 5 player. It rarely happens. As a contradiction, we have the Knicks. The last time was maybe the Pistons?

The assumption I made, which unfortunately wasn't safe to make, was that you had an adult level of reading comprehension skills.

Apparently you don't know what it means for a person to make a claim unless they literally tell you that is what they are doing....and that's really weird.

An adult with average conversation skills would realize that when someone says something that cannot be objectively proven, like "pizza is the best food" or "Ime Udoka is one of the worst coaches in the league" it's inherently opinion.....but apparently you need that spelled out for you.

You then make a claim of your own, that Ime is an above average coach, yet you can't point to a single ****ing thing he does well when asked.

You're either trolling or you are an incredibly stupid person and I don't appreciate it one way or the other.

This is quite a hilarious post. But thanks for admitting you just have an opinion that Ime sucks. Just because it’s a claim and an opinion doesn’t mean you aren’t obligated to share some kind of objective reasoning — even if not very sound or only demonstrating correlation. You keep saying “Ime awful, Ime awful” and then berate people for pointing out that you rarely offer any kind of analysis of his coaching other than “results not there.” Fine; if that that’s your criteria it’s better than nothing. But you seem to pretend that Ime didn’t take over a team that previously was winning 20 games a season and had absolute dog **** work ethic and coordination. Then he loses his veteran PG and doesn’t have anyone else to run an offense for an entire season. You don’t think that plays into results?

and whenever anyone pushes back, you spend 90% of your response insulting the person’s intelligence. This is your MO. We’ve seen it for years. You can have opinions. You can have subjective feelings and share them. But you don’t have to be a dick to every other rockets fan because they dare defend their players, coaches be organization.

I hope so. We need to do something. Teams are getting better, and we’re sitting here waiting on a 32 yr old FVV coming back from a near career ending knee (explosion)… smh

Apparently you struggle with reading comprehension as well....or you just stumbled in late to a conversation, read a tiny bit of it and decided to embarrass yourself....either way, I did explain my reasoning...I just didn't list an objective metric because no objective metric exists to effectively judge coaches.

I spelled out how Ime has not installed any kind of coherent offensive system, how he's constantly out-coached by the opposing team, how his player management decisions have harmed the team in the short term and the long term, I've pointed out all of the blown 4th quarter leads, I've pointed to how he constantly throws his players under the bus for his shortcomings....all of these to support Ime being a shitty coach.

The person I was talking to however, could not point to a single thing Ime does well when asked why he inexplicably claimed Ime was above average as a coach.

Maybe you just wanted to come in to cry and throw a tantrum, but you just make yourself look bad when you are this uninformed about what you are talking about.

Since I'm such a fair person, I'll let you attempt to point to things you think Ime does well, since the person you are white knighting didn't even attempt to. I'm willing to let Ime apologists make a case...but you have to actually attempt to make a case, and saying the Rockets have a better regular season record now than during the tanking years is not making that case.

The Rockets now have a top 10 NBA player in KD and a team full of top 3 picks....they SHOULD have a better regular season record than a team that is actively tanking, that doesn't mean their coach is competent, it just means they have a LOT more talent on the team now than they did back in the WOW years.

Is it the offensive system of "you guys just figure it out" that makes him "above average" as a coach?

Is it the adjustments that either never come or come 3 games too late that makes him awesome?

Do you just like the vibes of his shitty attitude and "play harder" mantra?

Is it how he never takes accountability for anything?

Tell me, what specifically is it you like about Ime as a coach?

I genuinely don't know, normal people aren't Ime apologists, so it's not something I'll ever encounter in normal everyday life.

Zion stands out as the one Uber talented player left that will be traded and probably net. Some gigantic return.
Murphy III as a player that I really like, but I am not sure that he can even be a Robin.
Murray could help us this year if he is healthy.
I like Fears as a young prospect.

so I guess in my mind there is some synergy if the pelicans wanted to make a deal with us. Obviously, they would need to value Sengun and they might not considering they have Queen.

    Murray, Williamson and Fears

    For

Sengun, FVV, DFS, Capela and the worst of the 2027 is picks. Top 15 protected.

    Then bring Myles Turner.

    Turner/Adams
    Zion/Eason
    Smith/Durant/Amen
    Durant/Reed/Fears
    Amen/Murray/Fears

I stopped reading when you started your post with an insult. You struggle with communication. Work on that and stop being an internet *******.

    Pathetic, but unsurprising.

You can't expect me, or anyone else to take you seriously when all you want to do is cry like this.

Actually discuss the topic of conversation or **** off, no one wants to see your whiny b****assness.

I personally think that the Durant trade was a legitimate move by Stone. All of the other moves he made (and the ones he didn’t make) after the trade - were terrible. With better moves we could have a decent roster, even with Fred and Adams injuries. On the other hand, with Ime influence on our roster moves, it might be impossible..

Really... You didn't enjoy the 5 forwards lineup? Didn't enjoy DFS and Tate on the court at the same time? Ridiculous... you should give yourself a time out... /sarc

Its wild you are getting ANY pushback for clearly stating an opinion, and people not knowing what a metric is, specifically in this conversation.
Furthermore, someone is allowed to instantly call your response "hilarious" which is an insult, then complain when you start off with an insult.

    Wild times

I asked you to back up your "claim" (aka an opinion). This is internet board after all. ...which you didn't. Instead, you double downed that your "claim" (aka opinion) should be obvious to real fan. That is not proof. This is an internet board so we discuss stuff. Your best response was to answer my question with a question.

I answered that. One thing that Ime does well ...he wins more games than he loses. By definition, that makes him an above average coach. Those are facts. You stated Ime is a bottom 5 coach. That is not a fact, despite your insistence that this should be obvious. So I just asked you to share why you think so. You didn't. So it seems my factual statement is hard for you to reconcile so rather than facing that truth, you double downed and resorted to insults.

I've removed all your insults cause that's just a waste of space. Do better. This is Clutchfans. We are better than the rest of the Internet.
