Very easy to make trades with the expiring deals of Fred, Adams, DFS. Might have to wait until the deadline though unless they're going to a non-contender.
Thank Jebus we didn't extend him via a decline & sign. Investing in a short, aging, and injured guard would've matched the O'Brien/Easterby level of insanity.
At least he wasn’t extended. Now they’ll waist the MLE on Marcus for 3 years. Stone has to find a way to get us hard capped before the trade deadline, so he’ll have an excuse not to do anything. I guess Marcus will take all of Okogie’s minutes and part of Reed’s or Ime can play his 3 midgets and two big lineups like last year.
Funny that we are all glad he opt in and didn’t re-sign for a 3 year contract, even if cheaper per season. Hopefully, the 26/27 season will be this current Rockets’ last dance (only without a ship in the end..). I would really like to see a fresh start in the 27/28 season without all of our bad contracts, without Ime and without Stone. In the meantime, let this ride continue to this up coming season, to another 1st round exit.
with fred opted in, this opens room for this type of trade- Denver Nuggets receive Jaylen Brown — from Boston Dorian Finney-Smith — from Houston Houston Rockets receive Jamal Murray — from Denver Boston Celtics receive Fred VanVleet — from Houston Cameron Johnson — from Denver Christian Braun — from Denver Denver’s 2032 first-round pick Chicago Bulls receive Clint Capela — from Houston JD Davison — from Houston Two Denver-controlled second-round picks
This is really good news. He’s now tradeable on an expiring contract. A far better situation than extending him, even if the cap hit year would be reduced.
Boston would laugh you off the phone. Brown has a bad contract, but Boston isn’t trading him without a good player and multiple picks coming back. They wouldn’t be trading him at all unless something has blown up between him and the GM. I think KD would make more sense to them than that poo platter, certainly Sengun and filler would be better as well. I don’t want the Rockets to trade for him, but someone will pay a hefty price if he is to leave Boston.
