To be fair, "Ime players" are basically less talented versions of our brick laying "franchise players" (excluding Dickerson)
We should of added him as soon as Ime was named the coach. As the playoffs showed, he can still be useful in a set number of minutes. Shores up the biggest need on the team, making the bench better while providing legitimate insurance to ****** Fred.
.. I like Marcus Smart. For the newbies on here, that's CF for you. I see same people who didn't like Dillon Brooks are mostly the same people who don't like Smart. And someone even suggested the Rockets go after Tim Hardway Jr over Smart. Do people really watch basketball outside of the Rockets?
I don’t know what the statistic show but it does seem that Marcus smart shoots a little bit better when it’s an important situation. I don’t know why I feel like that but it just seems like historically, for Boston or whatever I just always remember him hitting shots when it mattered, but knowing that the data on him being a shooter didn’t exist. I definitely remember thinking he would’ve been helpful last year and I certainly imagine there would be a place for him to be a positive this year although I would rather it be a younger player.
I’d be fine with a center rotation of Sengun, a load-managed Steveo, and a load managed RobWill. The problem is that we also have a washed Clint Capela who we’d have to attach an asset to move off of.
Neither are good, but Tim Hardaway Jr is a MUCH better player right now than what is left of Marcus Smart unless you think all there is to basketball is defense. Thinking that the Rockets would be better off with another non shooting guard over a 40% 3 point shooter is pretty hilarious actually. Something I'm sure Ime agrees with, but he's a complete moron.
The time to acquire Smart was the last deadline, months before he was running circles on Amen looking like it was 2016. Then you thank him for winning the series and not turning the ball over twice with a 5 point lead in the closing seconds.
It’s amazing how many people use the “watch basketball” bs. Yes, we all watch basketball or we wouldn’t be on this forum. The guys we are pursuing all have flaws and are mostly being pursued, because of the price point. Smart is fine at the right contract, but the frustration lies in the way this organization is settling for mediocrity and is leaning toward vets on the downside of their career.
I don’t get it. Reed Sheppard fans should be writing letters to Marcus Smart begging him to come. If you don’t get 4 guys behind him locked in like marines on the defensive communication and preswitching him out of trouble than he can’t be on the court past March. If he can’t be on the court past March, he can’t start or get the majority of the training time. I get the frustration but the guys you think are good enough defensively to do it like KD, Jabari, and Tim Hardaway Jr simply aren’t. If he’s not a good enough movement shooter to make an offense function with 3 point volume with Marcus Smart on the court, then that’s a big problem.
I mean that sounds like it's a done deal if they have these specifics (the athletic), sounds just like the DFS situation. We're going to give him a 2/12 TP-MLE
