It sounds good on paper but you have to actually think about what that looks like on the court. Neither of them is a playmaker so in crunch time you either have point guard KD again, point guard Kawhi, or FVV making the late game plays. Kawhi and KD have made great careers of finishing plays 1on1 when you can't leave their teammates but they aren't generating offense for others. In crunch time and the playoffs the game always devolves into your best playmaker running the show. This team has to focus on finding it's primary playmaker above everything else.
Am I okay…. Probably not all the way but I have my days. No I have concerns about Sengun. If he doesn’t either learn how to shoot, or defend the post, I just don’t know how long the league will value him as he plateaus as a veteran. That contract actually might be more challenging to move that you’d think in the near future. I also think the identity of the team would be better served moving to a switch everything, athletic, versatile team that sort of elevates what our best prospect (Amen) is going to be his best version of himself at. So Senguns diminishing value (which many might disagree with of course), and best style of play to win and build around our best prospect would be my reasoning. Still think I’m losing my mind?
Sure, another over-the-hill, injury-prone mercenary. Fits the culture. With all the trade speculations, disappointments and minute restrictions it's as if the rebuild never happened.
Definitely giving up Sengun at all cost. Anybody who watched the playoffs saw Ayton & Hayes embarrassing Alperun Sengun
Did he get embarrassed the previous year? Did he get embarrassed when he faced Jokic and others in the Eurocup? You think one poor playoff matchup means the end of a player? It seems like you WANT Sengun to suck just to reinforce your preconceived notions. How many players had bad series their first or second playoff run? He had a good first one against a HOF defender— why doesn’t he get any leeway from so called “fans?”
I have to believe that they are trying to be facilitators in a Kawhi trade, and there name gets thrown around as being in the mix. That’s just not an appealing name at all.
Eurocup aint the NBA my guy. The regular season also aint the playoffs. Its not that I want Sengun to suck, he DID suck on offense AND defense against a lesser inferior match up. He also didn't play well most the year. The jig is up. Trading him now is our best bet since he's not getting better
Raptors and Clippers, I believe. I doubt Sprus is a real candidate. Also don't think HOU is in the mix.
The league dragging their feet in making a verdict on the Kawhi case is just unconscionable. Are teams supposed to just do trades as if they aren't going to do anything about his contract?
My guess is the league has already said they won't do anything about his remaining year on his contract bc by the time they go through the union grievance process etc it will be too late. They SHOULD void it, but my guess, nbapa would file a grievance and probably get a temporary stay and the season would have started by the time it's resolved.
With what players? We didn't luck out on Cade, or Wembayama, we didn't even get ourselves Paolo. Who are we building around to contend for a decade?
