Listen, being critical of him for his coaching is all fine and well. But calling him subhuman? That's way too far. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that it wasn't intended to sound racist, but let me assure you that it very much did sound racist.
I don't think it would mean this at all. I think it would mean they're looking for an Aaron Holiday replacement and aren't going to bank on a rookie, Bruce Thornton, being ready to be that.

I honestly don't understand why everybody here seems to be freaking out. Bringing in Marcus Smart on a vet minimum to play a Holiday/Okogie type role is fine. If the report was "Rockets want to sign Marcus Smart and have guaranteed him a role as a starter" then I would understand why you guys are so upset. We just watched him kick our ass in the playoffs so you guys should know he's still a guy who can give you productive minutes off of the bench.
Maybe a team like the Nets are ready to offer Eason something stupid, or maybe the relationship with him toast and we S&T him for a cheaper player that opens up space for a MLE acquisition. I’d consider Eason S&T for Josh Minott or Leonard Miller for example. Bulls/Nets have the ability to absorb Easons new deal without sending back salary.
Everyone is freaking out because they think Ime will play him starters/sixth man minutes - and that we would pay him more that the vet minimum. At least this is why I would freak out...
Im assuming Marcus Smart can find a 2/16 or 3/20 deal, and a guarantee of 20-25mpg for any game he is healthy. That isn’t a minimum, or a Holiday/Okogie role
So you think he's turning down almost 6 million to sign a vet min deal? Does that sound right to you? You don't make plans to opt out to sign a vet min deal which would be available to him on all 30 teams. Let's be so forreal right now.
Smart is tending down a $5.5M player option that he outplayed by a lot, in order to be an unrestricted free agent and get a larger contract. With FVV on the books (and assuming we aren’t gonna lock ourselves out of the ability to match an offer sheet on Tari), we do not have a realistic mechanism to sign a free agent for the amount that Smart will get this summer.
