People shouldn’t be so much about whether Murphy III is better than Jabari, but what would the overall team impact be. Murphy III would be a great fit for this team, but he would also be a better fit next to Jabari as opposed to replacing him. The ideal scenario would be to trade someone that doesn’t fit with Amen not someone that does. KD and Picks for Trey would be an absolute better fit for this team than Jabari and picks for Trey. We should be concentrating on how to better balance out our roster with young players that compliment the young core, not trying to maximize the geriatric troup limited time here.

Local radio guys here in Dallas say that the Mavs are angling to get Jalen Duren out of Det. Word out of Detroit was JD was a no show in the playoffs. His #s were way down. Injured? Too big a stage? Would question a one year flop in the playoffs as a reason to trade a 22 year old 20/10 guy. He will be due a big payday.

First, want to move on from KD. Actually like Tari more than Jabari. Don't know if the Rockets have what the Pistons are looking for. Personally love Sengun, but for all the haters, Duren for Sengun I'm on board. There is a big salary match issue. Would have to be a sign and trade. Doubt they would want Reed, they just drafted a 6'1 PG out of Stanford.

So if we can't provide what they're looking for, maybe we get involved with the Mavs in a 3 team trade. Rockets roster needs to shed the olds, KD, Adams, Capela and of course DFS. The Mavericks have plenty of front court depth. Guys like Bagley, Washington, Lively, and Marshall. No superstars, but make the roster better.

If we can move KD, then by all means keep Jabari. Plus I do think Reed is a keeper.

Understand I'm all over the map here. But my point is I wouldn't mind seeing a major roster turn over. Not a rebuild, yet. But as is, the team at best is a 50-55 ( they won 52 games w/o KD and Reed waisting away in 2024-25 ) win team that can't compete with SA or OKC in the playoffs.

So the above is just spit-balling. But do believe KD needs to be moved.

If you trade KD, its a rebuild. Looking at the window with Spurs and OKC, without KD, they might not even make the playoffs

I did something similar that worked with Spotrac
    Milw got FVV and Adams
Houston got Garland and Miles Turner
    LAC got Sengun and Portis
Money worked, some version of picks can be made also.
Garland, Amen, Turner, Smith, and KD as a 5 is a upgrade if healthy. Garland and Turner and good shooters this team needs. Reed and Tari along with other players to fill.

I like the concept... but I think Portis is already headed to Miami

Don't know what the pick compensation would be, but this worked in TradeNBA
LAC: Alpi (HOU) + FVV (HOU)

MIL: DFS (HOU) + Adams (HOU)

HOU: Garland (LAC) + Turner (MIL) + Lopez (LAC)

Looking for ways to add length and shooting.

The first one hurts to send Bari and the draft capital, but to add Murphy and Murray we'll have to outbid others and it frees us from FVV and DFS. We add some difference makers that can contribute on both ends of the court.

A smaller version of this would be to S&T Tari for Trey. We'd add 2-3 1sts similar to the above.

I think that’s selling low on Alpi. We should just offer KD for Garland straight up. I think with the addition of Wagler, the Clips would consider it. I i’d do KD for Leonard as well, but I think Leonard and the owner have an agreement and he won’t be going anywhere unless the NBA forces him into FA. If that happens he will end up in another west coast city or Toronto.

As frustrating as last season was -- this take is correct. If KD is not on Houston's roster, we're one injury to Sengun or Amen from being a complete bottom-feeder. You signed KD, now you have to find ways to make it work.

Sengun is really a PF in the Randle-type role, rather than a true center. KD and Jabari are also truly PF-types. These three players don't fit together on the court, and when you plug in Amen, spacing and offense become a huge problem (and despite having length on the court, our D is way too slow). When you add in this coaching staff, who lack the raw basketball chops to give these guys a working offensive system, I don't think playing more games will help. The chemistry is not there.

Since Sengun has the most potential (surely he's going to add at least a steady 15-footer as he gets older), he's probably the biggest trade bait. I'd say move him while he has value. Once he twists an ankle or really tweaks his back (next off-season), his value will be nil.

I feel like it's a lot of draft capital to give up, but that is probably a fairly realistic price for those two players.

If the picks are our own, either option is fine with me. I’d rather give up FVV and DFS and sign’n’trade Tari somewhere else for a good SG and KD for Garland or Leonard.

I doubt Bari gets moved but you’ve got to give something to get something. Props for a real attempt at a Murphy trade.

I’d remove the protections on 2028 (or make it a swap). 2028 supposed to be weak. Give the Pels both 2027 picks and 2028. That should be good compensation for Trey. Add Fred for salary.

we can trade KD for future assets.

    Sengun
    Bari
    Trey
    Amen
    ?

    Reed
    Tari
    Thornton

I’m willing for a Tari and a lottery protected first for Dillon.

    3-way for Trey Murphy:

    Boston gets KD
    Houston gets Trey
NO gets unprotected 1st from Boston, both 2027 1sts from Houston, a sh#t ton of 2nd rounders, and Fred.

So a trade designed to make the Rockets much older in 2 seasons than they would be and remove chances at finding a special player just so the Rockets can lose more games next season without it.

Trey is 26 yrs old. Literally just turn 26 days ago. He’s on a great contract and definitely someone worth locking up for 6 yrs. We ain’t finding anyone special in 2027. Certainly not as special as Trey Murphy.

I've been a fan of Murphy iii since the draft - I really wanted the Rockets to grab him, he was the only 50/40/90 shooter in that draft and the shooting has translated to the NBA.

I don't know what a realistic trade is with New Orleans for him .... I think they'd prefer picks to Jabari tho - maybe you reroute him elsewhere?

You are correct and that would be a great trade. Joe Joe will worship the ghost of FVV for years. Trey is a great fit at a reasonable contract. You still have flexibility to sign-n-trade Tari for backcourt help. Amen, Sengun, and Jabari will all get another season and much more freedom offensively to improve. There is no tweaking or on the margin trades that will make an FVV, KD let team compete in the next two years. We need to re-load and get younger. This trade allows us the flexibility to compete this year and be opportunistic if something else pops up.

    Andrew Nembhard
    6'4 190 lbs.
Averaged 16.9 PPG 7.7 AST last season with Haliburton out.
    Solid defender
    Decent 3pt shooter 36%
With Haliburton coming back his role will go down.
19 mil contract. 4th highest for Indiana

Reed, Capela plus a pick works to get him.

    Max Strus
    6'5 215lbs
    Average 11 PPG 5 REB 2.2 AST
    Decent Defender
    3pt Sniper 40% last season

Maybe DFS plus some 2nd's (sense they are such a premium these days)

Strus is expiring and DFS is non guaranteed
