Alpi started strong last year after playing well for the Turkish team. I think he wore down as the season went on. I’m hopeful that with an offseason focused on conditioning and skills versus winning games, his skills will progress. We should not be selling on Sengun at this point of his career.
They are all factors. We as fans are best equipped to judge physical traits and to a certain extent basketball IQ. We are reliant on the organization and their media sycophants for the rest. Part of being a fan is predicting the future. I’m just saying the physical predictions are much more likely to be correct than the other nuanced skill-sets that we only have a bit of the information to go on. I think this FO and their media cohorts are transparent in their attempts to appease the fans with releases like we are open to trading everyone but Amen, soon to be followed with “we tried, but there were no serious offers”.
I don't believe that he is really on the trade block. Just yesterday or so he shared a video of him working out with some Rockets people in Istanbul. But it's the NBA, everything is possible. Btw he has two games coming up. Against Bosnia on July 2nd and Switzerland on 6th. Qualifiers for the 2027 WC.
Really want Sengun to work on his 3 pointer and be allowed to work through it on the court in the NBA. I don’t believe a word that comes out of this FO about trading anyone but Amen. They are running it back with some stupid signing of a vet journeyman like Shroeder. The only reason we have Durant is because Stone made such a big deal out of his justification to trade the Nets picks for Phoenix picks in an attempt to get Booker. Durant was about saving face. I hope Sengun doesn’t play in the WC if it is before the NBA season. He needs to become a star in the NBA before he wears himself out overseas. It was obviously a factor this past season.
Your opinion is noted. Not rooted in fact, but noted. 38.7 to 34.5% one year to year comparison when dealing with injuries is not sufficient data to draw the conclusion you have. Especially when looking how his three ball always varied a few percentage points each season. You’ve decide that he’s washed. Okay, that’s fine, I thought the same about CP3. It’s possible you’re wrong. It’s possible I’m wrong. But I don’t agree whatsoever that the data shows he’s regressed tremendously because of one season filled with injuries and then a season ending injury before he got to redeem himself. Recall, after game 1 of GSW, he was the only one who played consistently well the rest of the series.
2nd most TO's on the team his Assist to Turnover ration is worse than Amen and Reed and worst TO% on the team and that's just the regular season playoffs he's even worse
How I wish Sengun were a better finisher and at least had some range and we had a coach that knows how to maximize him. Then I realize that’s probably too much to wish for…
Alpi's back on the front page of the NY Times this morning. free link from the article that first appeared in May, no paywall https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/72...hared_gift_article_copylink&smid=url-share-ta
He plays like he's got a refrigerator on his back AND he runs like he's got t*tties??! Man, it's getting to look bad out there for Alpi.
He sucked the first 3 games, played great the next 3 games, and was mediocre in the 7th game. People are constantly re-writing history when it comes to that playoff series.
Now, that's a rewriting history statement. While Jalen **** the bed for 6 out of 7 games, Sengun was carrying the team most games and the Rockets would have been eliminated in 5 without him. I know you hate Alpi, but straight up lying is unbecoming Hemingway. Let's ask AI what Alpi actually did in that series. AI response: Here is the game-by-game breakdown of Alperen Şengün's statistics in that series. | Game [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9] | Date | Game Result | Points | Rebounds | Assists | Notable Stat / Highlight | |---|---|---|---|---|---|---| | Game 1 | Apr 20, 2025 | L 85-95 | 17 | 16 | 4 | Recorded a massive double-double despite a tough team shooting night. | | Game 2 | Apr 23, 2025 | W 109-94 | 17 | 16 | 7 | Flirted with a triple-double alongside Jalen Green's 38-point night. | | Game 3 | Apr 26, 2025 | L 93-104 | 19 | 11 | 4 | Continued his double-double streak in a physical road loss. | | Game 4 | Apr 28, 2025 | L 106-109 | 31 | 10 | 5 | Eclipsed the 30-point mark for a playoff career-high. | | Game 5 | Apr 30, 2025 | W 131-116 | 15 | 9 | 9 | Controlled the floor as an offensive hub, falling just one rebound and assist shy of a triple-double. | | Game 6 | May 2, 2025 | W 115-107 | 26 | 14 | 4 | Dominated the interior to tie the series and push a Game 7. | | Game 7 | May 4, 2025 | L 89-103 | 21 | 14 | 5 | Battled fiercely but struggled with efficiency (9-of-23 FG) under Draymond Green's intense defensive pressure. | | Total | Average | 3 - 4 | 20.9 | 11.9 | 5.3 | Postseason debut series average. | Yeah, come on man, he was a mixed bag last season and lost respect around the league, but let's not act like he is a scrub. He is still a 2x all-star and performed very well that series until game 7, without Jalen we actually win that series.
Hope all of this criticism is just fueling Sengun’s offseason. A rookie gonna talk sh#t? Come back better and show the world big fella.
I'm still a fan but I maintain he actually runs like a baby t-rex messed its own diaper and is running to get it changed. Seriously.
I heard he swivels it so fast now that it actually creates enough lift that it's his new shooting form going forward.
I agree he did do his best against Draymond & GSW how did he do against Ayton and LA considering its his 5th year in the league
