And just like that we added another all star to the team, we now have two all stars... LES GO!!!! SO PUMPED!!!
So another Fat VanEAT on the team This brings a question, of why the Rockets didn't play the JD Davison & Tristan Newton guards they already had? Those guys are objectively ahead of a rookie 2nd round pick. But if this shows the Rockets are adjusting, that's an encouraging (way late) sign. With some odd "Can these "guards" even dribble?" players to do it with. (I do like Thornton's shot making potential, though)
I think it's pretty obvious that Thornton is going to be part of a larger trade package bringing in Brown.
I don't understand why people are comparing him to Fred. Bruce is nothing like Fred other than height. Bruce is a super efficient scorer who can create his own shot. Fred didn't score much in college and doesn't create his own shot in the NBA.
Immediately, Bruce brings off-the-dribble scoring punch that we haven't seen since Kyle Lowry was around here. While Thornton may lack size and a little lateral quickness, he can finish in the paint. Maybe the coaches will ask him to host a layup clinic or something. Lord knows we need it.
He could, but the offensive player is certain to bounce off of him, not the other way around... Big Body Bruce baby!
The videos I have seen are impressive. He has an amazing ability to get his shot off in traffic, at least at the college level. Will that translate to the pros? I guess we are going to find out. If he can make shots like that at the NBA level, he potentially could be one hell of a 6th man if nothing else.
He’s stronger and more of a dawg than Reed. If he can hit 3s at a decent clip, a conversation will be had.
He's nowhere near DMo status, he'll never be the X factor. He does weigh more than DMo though and probably has similar lane agility...
NBA teams do not evaluate players the same way, and there is a lot less group think by NBA teams. I'd assume about 35-40 players were drafted by teams that who's own internal grades rated the player with a 1st round grade.
