As odd as we may find it, Fred probably still has value to certain teams around the league. That could be a team that wants to improve the culture like we did a couple years ago or that could be a team that feels like he could be the veteran piece that propels them into a higher level of contention. can he be re-signed to a different deal and then traded? That may increase our options as it could lower his cap and tie him to his next club for a couple seasons. I am not nearly as reactionary as a lot of the BBS. I completely understand the arguments being made, but I also hold Amen (and Sengun to an extent) as players that could grow into a 1a type overall, when supplemented with a strong core around them. If we want to win around Durant, then bringing Brown into the team that we feel that last year via trading FVV/DFS/Capela In draft picks would probably be prudent. I would not lean into that because it’s shorts our ability to build around Thompson, but I do think that Sengun/Adams Smith Durant/Eason Brown Amen/Reed he’s pretty formal with a few offensive adjustments.
There are teams out there that were going to pursue several of the available guards (Ayo, Coby, Austin, etc) but ultimately those players chose to resign with their teams, so those teams may be looking for alternative options and as long as you aren't trying to make Fred the star (like Houston), he is probably a good guy for your team. Detroit Pistons come to mind.
Great news on moving on from FVV possibly. But if those are the 2 options, i'd rather just keep him and let him move on after next year. If moving on is an option. I just don't understand the point of running it back with Durant. I understand we have the PHX and BRK picks next year, so we have a diminished incentive to miss the playoffs (although extra odds are extra odds, if we do miss). I just don't believe Sengun or Amen or Reed are benefiting a ton from playing with Durant.
i'm honestly shocked that trading FVV is a possibility. it opens up a ton of avenues in getting to salary matching we need. Jabari + Reed + FVV gets you over $60M in salary going out and none of them are negative value. FVV + DFS + Clint gets you to $45M and into Ja Morant flier territory without adding any picks to it. Any trade before this news required Alperen or KD to be in to get a max player realistically. Now the Rockets can do risky moves like trading for Morant or Zion, without trading players who have serious long term value. I wouldn't advocate trading for Zion or Ja Morant typically but for FVV, DFS and Clint and maybe getting a pick in return? That's an interesting high risk flier. Morant only has 2 years left and would need to waive the trade kicker. Zion probably would cost Reed Sheppard instead of Clint.
If we got any type of pick compensation for taking Ja for that package you listed, I have to think you do that.
This guy is reporting that the Rockets have had conversations with the Celtics regarding Jaylen Brown.
The washed KD that played 78 games on 36 minutes a night which was second in the NBA? The washed KD that put up 26 on 52% and 35% and 62%TS? The same KD that had a 10.7 WS his highest since 2018 when he was in his prime? Did you watch the this team in the playoffs without KD? The offense was a disgrace.
Brother, I'm not even criticizing KD's game. I'm criticizing the decision to bring in a 36-year-old veteran, and the idea of doubling down on that by adding more players in their 30s who have no chance of actually getting better, only of declining further. It's time to get back to the youth movement. Stop with this "pretending to be a contender" nonsense. We're not there yet.
They said Rockets did not talk about Jaylen Brown at all. Run it back with injured Fred. Fans need to wake up. Accept the shiit FO.
I think we have enough time to say that they're trash and bottom 5. Do people realize how incompetent you have to be to do do a win now trade like the KD one and then operate like he's 21 and not about to be 38?
Sorry guys, but trading for Jaylen Brown won't fix our problems. I would definitely trade KD straight up for Jaylen Brown, but attaching assets to get him is not a smart move. If we make some marginal moves without giving up our valuable assets then we keep our team in a flexible position to always be able to upgrade. I think trading for Ja Morant should be the move for these reasons: 1) Package our less valuable players/contracts for Morant 2) Rehabilitate Ja Morant's image/player profile under Ime...Udoka might not be the best Xs and Os coach, but he's great in setting a culture Its like stock, buy an asset when its low, sit on it and when its value appreciates SELL IT!!! Ja Morant is more valuable than FVV/DFS/Capela
Few of Bos local reporter seems to reflect this. Some of the 'sabatoge' seems to be other GMs trying to stir the pot. Not saying it won't work, but lot of it might outside GMs asking.
I just think Morant is a really bad fit with our team. I get the rehabilitation approach which could net us great assets in a future trade. But the chances of him being hurt, further tanking his value, and the off the court stuff are not worth it. Most importantly…he can’t shoot. We need backcourt guys that can both handle the ball and shoot. Hope we aren’t considering Ja at all.
