    And that’s what scary,
I genuinely think Stone thinks like this.
    Hence why he does nothing.

it’s like saying I want the 10/10 girl who is also a pure heart that wants to cure world hunger and is a billionaires daughter and I’m only going to talk to her.

But you’re steady seeing other guys marry a 9 or 10 that’s not rich or has a slightly bad attitude.

and it’s like you clearly could of married a great beautiful woman, but your holding out hope for some fantasy unrealistic situation to happen.

If youre gonna go all in for KD THEN GO ALL IN. If youre not gonna do that then go young and rebuild WTF did you get a 37 year old just to tread water til he turns 40?

I think your missing my point
Other teams are actually taking chances and making moves to actually atleast give their franchise a shot. We are doing the most safest impactful things you can’t even imagine.

last season at trade deadline we could of genuinely got.
    AYO
    Coby white
    Luke Kennard
And I’m sure countless other impactful role players

    and we did nothing

and now we’re drafting a older rookie in the 2nd round to hope he can be as impactful as those player that we could of got a a reasonable price but Stone was scared to do a deal.

Sorry, I don't agree with this at all. It's chicken little nonsense. I swear, no other fan forum acts like this one, ignorant of the possibility that, you know, we could get better because of leaps taken by our younger players. People act like all of our players we drafted are in their prime - we fielded the youngest starting lineup to ever win a playoff game this past playoffs.

I'm not opposed to making sensible trade, or even taking a big swing. But the idea that we have to is silly.

I’m glad we didn’t trade for Lamelo, but not because of the price. Everybody acts like that they gave up a treasure trove for him. They gave up a frp pick 7 years in the future and swaps with a team with a worse record now and throughout the 3 years of the swaps. If we could get somebody with a skillset like Lamelo without the injury concerns and horrible contract for a bunch of swaps of our own picks, it would be the trade of the century for the Rockets. Everybody wanted Naz last year, but it turns out he was fool’s gold. I think Charlotte could have done better. If Lamelo stays healthy the Wolves will be improved.

Most of these young guys have been playing 3-4+ years now. How long do they need for a leap?

Absolutely shouldn’t be taking any of the big swings that are currently available, but we should be unloading KD, FVV, Adams to try and build a supporting cast around Amen, Jabari, and, maybe Sengun (all of who will continue to get better). It’s really imprudent to waste years on the geriatric brigade and slow the development of the young guys.

This. All these "dear diary" threads by the doomers are annoying.

Jaylen Brown and Donovan Mitchell are still out there.

I dont think you DONT understand and thats ok. You can disagree. I dont care but the basic point of a team is to win a chip. We made the playoffs and the Rockets stupidly decided we were a KD away from contending after making one post season. They traded valuable much younger assets for this. They were wrong and they found they were wrong. They said we are contending and said we arent developing players (A driect quote from Stone). Ok so we're not develoing or rebuilding and the goal is to contend now BUT we arent good enough to contend now. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN TO YOU? It means we are directionless and are likely another first round exit. Teams that are directionless end up being the Wizards, Grizzlies, Magic and Kings. THEY DONT WIN ANYTHING FOR YEARS.

They have all taken a leap. It's like people on this forum don't actually watch the Rockets. Amen's offensive stats improved across the board. Same with Bari's. Sengun was on MVP ladders before getting hurt. Sheppard went from 4.4 pts a game on .338 3P% to .4 on over twice as many attempts per game. What's striking is that people on here seem to think all our prospects have hit their ceiling, that it makes sense to take the ball away from our young guys and trade assets for a middling vet.

I actually don't believe we should make minor moves like the one advocated by the OP. I think we either need to make a big swing, or preserve our assets for a big swing. No one wins it all because they trade for Luke Kennard.

I do understand. What I don't understand is people thinking that minor trades win a chip. They don't. They generally waste assets and take the ball away from the younger guys.

Again, either take a big swing that is sensible, or preserve your assets and let the young guys develop. Trading assets for a guy who won't do much for our ceiling and may hamper the development of our core young group is crazy to me.

All this championship or bust nonsense is not how real franchises operate....

We weren't ready for the first playoff series and we had bad luck/bad roster construction the second time.... and you are ready to declare it's fruitless and over? Seriously the first real adversity and you quit?

WE ARE NO LONGER REBUILDING WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE CONTENDING. Do you not get it? This is what the Front Office said when they got Durant. No one here is saying the young guys have not gotten better. This is why Im saying you dont understand. We are saying pick a direction. I want to rebuild I know they are getting better so we want to trade KD OR GET ANOTHER SUPERSTAR FOR HIM. PICK A DIRECTION.

This is my only thing with the Lamelo trade, they got him for so cheap it makes you wonder how we didn't get in on that?

Jabari is younger and I'd argue had a better year than Naz, how does a deal that includes him not get done there?

    The answer is...

1.) Sometimes, teams don't have a player on the open market. Minny apparently had been pestering the Hornets for years about him, this could have just been a thing they were privy to. Sort of like the Luka deal. A lot of deals happen this way. It's not like a video game where you see whose on the market and make your deal.

2.) Rockets simply weren't interested. I mean they simply weren't interested in the player. Clearly we think a lot of FVV so it's not that much of a stretch to think they simply weren't interested.

3.) They are more interested in going after another player and are tied up with other deals.

Either way, the offseason has just begun. I'm not flipping over any tables just yet.
