Lmao didn't they announce like two days ago that Naz Reid is going to be their starting PF for the next season?
All these playoff teams making moves and we sit on a 37/34 short slow PG coming off an ACL injury, that is going to make us better. Our FO and coaching staff is incompetent. DD
Until I see it with my own eyes I will never believe LaMelo Ball being a winning player in the hyperfocused NBA postseason. Not saying for sure it won't happen, or that people can't mature, but I certainly wouldn't want him on my team hoping it does. He is a talent though, and while I wouldn't do it I understand why a small market team would take this swing.
I'm not sure if this really makes Minnesota better, but at the same time they pretty much peaked with the current roster so its understandable they are at least trying to head in a different direction.
I am fascinated by this trade. Minnesota uses up the flexibility the Randle trade made without increasing their depth. I count 6 guys. A very interesting starting 5. Tate and Holiday are probably better than their 7th best player by a good margin unless I'm missing someone. Just a risky trade by both sides. Minnesota goes without depth while Charlotte is banking on cap space, a stretch 5, and the 82 game grind wearing our Minnesota.
Why is it risky for the Hornets? They dumped a toxic contract in Lamelo got prob the 3rd best stretch big and gonna profit off the Wolves for years. Its un underrated fleece by the Hornets. The Wolves just made their bad trade 3 in a row Gobert, Kat and now Lamelo. Everything stems from the Gobert trade every bad trade has been trying to patch up that disastrous trade. Lamelo games played: 72, 47, 22, 36. Yeah he aint lasting in the West..
The Hornets won 44 games in Knueppel's rookie season with almost all their value coming from guys 25 and under. Ball getting Kon and Miller open shots is tough to beat. They added a couple of guys in the draft this year. The Hornets had financial flexibility to be a force. Their offense was predicated on having an extremely good creator for their plus-plus shooters. I think they are still in a good position, but taking away the PG for an upcoming team seems risky. Not long-term risky, but they have likely taken a step back short term.
He is more of an entertainer, if he ever toned that down and focused on just winning basketball he would be a lot better. DD
Hornets got an absolute haul for LaMelo Yellow -- I'm not a full time scientist, but judging the trades for GA and Ball I hypothesize Dallas could've received more in return for Luka.
