I have no idea if this guy is going to be good, but the butt-clinching by the Reed-Only fans is comedic gold. DD lamenting that he is too short and BTG lamenting that he won’t be able to score in the lane. Hahahahahaha

I feel like Stone drafting for fit and need is very off brand for him. It shows everyone that regardless of what they say they are signaling they feel like their roster is set, and there’s still not really room for putting a developmental system in place.

I don’t hate the pick and player though. I didn’t watch really any Ohio State games the past couple seasons so don’t have a great opinion on him yet. Seems like his best case is a Jalen Brunson - Kyle Lowry type of small scoring guard. If his efficiency handling the ball translates I’ll be very happy with the pick.

I just wish this team would wake up to the fact that they should stop operating as if they are a contender just needing a player here or there. Stone and co. for some reason don’t realize that last season we only had like maybe 7 true nba players. I don’t care about the cap benefits. Trading a pick for cash is bullsh$t.

Those 7 players also need to be pushed much harder by young talent on the bench hungry to take their minutes. I saw it pretty clear last season that the guys went through stretches where they just didn’t play like they had any urgency or intensity. Having young guys pushing them would make them better. Nobody on that roster was worried about freaking Isiah Crawford taking their minutes.

It seems like his touch, efficiency everywhere on the floor, and sure handle will translate well. I'm hopeful about the pick.

Do you really think a 6 foot tall guy that isn't particularly athletic is going to make a living scoring in the paint or are you just attempting to troll with this dumb ****?

The guy comes off as a mix of Aaron Holiday and Daishen Nix... or like a significantly shorter JaeSean Tate that can dribble better. It's fine for a second round pick but this isn't anyone that is likely making serious noise in the NBA.

Maybe you're just trolling for the love of the game, but it's ineffective when it's this weak.

I suspect they legitimately thought he was the BPA in the second round. They made damn sure nobody else could get him. Time will tell if they're right about that.

Agreed completely about needing to continue to add young talent to push our guys. That said I'm not going to waste too much time and energy sweating over the 55th pick. Those guys in that range might as well be undrafted free agents.

Brunson is such an outlier. Basing your entire draft strategy on absolute outliers doesn't seem like a wise strategy.

The last time the Rockets had a draft pick they sent the Rookie of the year /future all defensive team caliber guard to San Antonio bc they needed shooting and had enough defense

But when you only have second round picks, it's not terrible. With those guys if you even get an eventual NBA bench player, you've done well.

I have my doubts about if what he did in college will translate.... and so do the league which is why he wasn't even an NBA prospect until his 4th season in college and still not considered a first round talent.... but if some of it does translate he might not be destined for Europe as quickly as other 2nd round picks.

Yeah, tunnel vision. Will fit right in on a team not known for its passing and ball movement. Welcome to iso ball.

So, The Rockets held a draft party on the first night of the draft to not really do anything except make us watch our rivals get better (supposedly not proven yet, but likely). No trades or anything that night.

Then the next night when we don't have a draft party, we make moves to get a guy that if we're lucky will be a rotational/bench player.

I hope this guy proves a lot of us wrong, but this franchise is really making it hard to be a fan, I been getting my heart broken for 30 years by this team and it doesn't look like it's going to change anytime soon.

The Rockets draft BPA. The Rockets may move up or down to get a guy that fits, who is BPA, which may be the case here.

On fit, I'm not sure he fits with Reed or Sengun. On Amen, he probably is on the ball more than Amen. I'd like a rim protector if he and Reed are rotation guards.

If his college play translates and he's a top 10 percentile scorer in the paint and top 1 percentile from midrange in the NBA, no one outside of his direct family will be happier about it than me.

Not going to pretend like I know anything about this kid. I'm just wondering why the Rockets felt they had to trade up to get him.

If you ignore everything but analytics, the guy is a beast. Someone probably takes a chance on him before the Rockets pick and while it's exceptionally unlikely his game translates to the NBA, it's not impossible. There's a good chance they liked him more than anyone else left.
