For a 2nd rounder, I like it. I watched him play a few times and was impressed. Seems to have a good head on his shoulders also, scores really well, and played some solid D when I watched.
Kinda feeling like he's gonna be just an ok player. If he turns out to be a star, great for the rockets--but I doubt it.
He is a poor defender - but he does have an okay wingspan for a 6’0”. He should be ready to play right away though. Good shooter that can shoot in volume and play through contact. Not a point guard though. He has tunnel vision… but is fine for a 10-15 minute a night change of pace gunner off the bench long term.
Thornton already has a lot of clutch experience, something we can't say for a few others in our core (Smith, Sheppard, Eason, and Thompson). Durable too.
