Minors going off tonight. Hooks hit 4 HR against the Dodgers AA affiliate so far. I am starting to get very excited about Tyler Whitaker.
Jason Schiavone (6 with Corpus, 23 season), Max Holy (4 with Corpus, 5 season), Will Bush (5), and Tyler Whitaker (3) have all gone deep so far for the Hooks as they're already up 9-0 in Tulsa in the 3rd inning. Holy's was inside the park.
Jagger Beck vs. Delmarva: 3 IP, H, 4 BB, 4 K Juan Fraide, after tagging in: 4 IP, H, unearned run, BB, 6 K
Words I never thought would read from @Snake Diggit . I for one am surprised that Whitaker even made it to AA.
These are the Astros future stars. Hopefully next year we will be reading a similar headline from AA.
At this point I feel pretty comfortable saying the Astros have a top 10 farm system below High A (so between A and the complexes). I would bet we can include High A in that statement after the draft.
Would be nice for one of those guys from " Punishment Draft times" to turn into a nice player. I always thought it would be Alex Santos. Doesn't look likely now.
I thought he was going to be released before the season started. Now he’s nearly 200 pa into a AA season at age 23 posting an elite walk rate, tolerable k rate, and showing some speed and power. I’m hoping they start to get him reps on the infield like they have in previous years. Hes a legit prospect. Hes got reverse splits so even though hes RH he kind of reminds me of Loperfido.
FCL about to be 29-7. The highest winning % in the FCL I could find going back to 2005 is the 2013 Nats at .845 (49-9). Next was the 2016 Phillies at .741 (43-15). Unfortunately neither of those teams serves as a source of massive optimism about the future outcomes of FCL wins. The Phillies team featured Mickey Moniak and not much else. The Nats team had Nick Pivetta and Lucas Giolito and not much else.
Last 4 starts for Pecko: 24ip 2er 6bb 13k 13h Not a ton of strikeouts but the batted ball outcomes are there.
He still has great stuff, just never has learned how to get the walks under control. 13k/9 in AA this season is among the best in all of AA (especially among guys under 25) but negated by 7.5bb/9. Still only 24 so he probably has one more season to try and figure it out.
