With okc and Sa sitting there, no such thing as a soft reset

I like where the Rockets are in regards to where they started under Stone. Without doing the math, I think the 1st three years of the Stone era was bad. I get that a lot of that was the fallout of trying to win at all cost at the end of the Morey era, but the Stone era has not had the heights of the Morey era.

I'd be looking to trade either to the Hornets for one or both of their 26' picks

William, Saluan, Mann work salary wise for either. Williams would be a solid 39% 3pt bench role player & Saluan a prospect off the bench

I think it might be a case of Stone held onto both of them too long and they have shown exactly what they are:

Amen is a 5th year professional, not a 3 year - OTE was a professional league where he spent two years getting professional coaching. He still can't shoot and his handles are good for a forward but not up to snuff for a guard and he totally lacks point guard instincts.

Sengun can't shoot and can't anchor a defense which at his position is a bigger deal than the shooting, he's not going to grow 3-4 inches or suddenly become a quick twitch athlete.

You see them every day - you know they are flawed and you have to move them when their value is at its peak, not after you've squeezed every last drop of potential out of that lemon.

The weird thing about this "Amen is a 5 year professional" thing is that the posters saying it are the same people who said OTE was just high school ball. Which one is it? :p

The reality is somewhere in between, while OTE did have some features of a professional league, the jump from OTE to NBA basketball was enormous, bigger than the jump from Division I college ball for sure (although not as big as going straight from HS). So I don't think it's fair to characterize Amen's experience level that way. At most I think you could say he came in with a similar experience level to a redshirt freshman.

Players aren't all perfect. I expect one will need to be moved at some point. That said, teams have to solve imperfect players when they aren't stacked with stars.

Ime should be getting shopped too or is he untouchable? Is he even on the hot seat? Knicks fired Tom thibs and he took them to the semi finals lol

Should have let the Knicks take Udoka :(

they care about basketball in NY.

no one pays attention to Rockets basketball outside of diehard Rocket fans to know that Ime is a dogshit coacch and that our GM is dormant. Like our arena is half empty, the city barely cares about them. It's easy to get away being mid in this city.

Here is the truth: If you give Amen a $200M+ contract and he shoots under 30% again for his 4th straight year in the NBA, his value will plummet. At that point he will be an undersized and overpaid PF.

I agree. I just don’t see this team being able to compete with San Antonio or the Thunder. Better to reset and develop young talent.

I don’t think any offseason move can vault us past those two teams not to mention Denver

Alternatively , both guys are 23 and basketball is also a mental game .

Amen will have NBA value , but you can't say he will for sure be a superstar.

Sengun has flashed all-star production , but has always had an uphill climb physically to be good defensively .

I think Sengun can play PF . He's a bit too small and young to play Center full time .

The problem in the NBA is that it's a marathon to get through the season , but the playoffs is a predicable day or even more than 1 day of rest in between games .. and you can sprint.

Basketball is a great sport because you can see the battle of skill and intelligence and athleticism all going on at the same time .

I think our young guys have good heads on their shoulders , are driven , and talented. But it may in the next decade that neither sengun nor Thompson are "top 10" players ....

NBA analysis on if you need a "top 10" player to win are kinda dumb . I think there is a collective (online at least) retconning of a top 10 list every week , it's fluid .

So , you need a good smart team playing well in the playoffs to win. I think that's about as general as you get. Can Thompson and sengun be starters on that type of team ?

I like the fit of reed , amen , jabari , and sengun .

The young teams like OKC and SAS that have bucked the recent trend of young teams not winning are much deeper than we are . SAS had healthy veterans.

    NBA growth is not linear.

If you take the 4 guys I listed for us , they have as good a chance as any group of 4 players on a team right now of being 4 top starters in the league .

The big question is to what extent the NBA is a dominant player model. And will be one in the future .

Sorry for going off on this tangent , but I mean the idea that one player on a team can make everyone else look better (let's stick offensive for now , but the idea extends defensively) . Aka LeBron , harden , Curry . There are usually a handful guys that are killers to the extent that defenses need to warp to them. This gets amped up in a playoff series.

Outside of the idea of durant , We haven't had that. When we played really hard in 24/5 our collective punch was like that. Sengun when fresh was. Bullying people with his strength.

I think what I am really responding to the "you've seen their flaws" . I agree , but think the window for significant growth and team coordination to play better as unit is still there .

Idk about durant , id like to see what we can do with his contract .

Anyways , both Senguns contract is a gaudy number but a reasonable cap percentage. It's not an albatross by any means . NBA players just make alot of money . He's got a lot of value , so I would listen. But , you're gonna have to give up a lot to get him and the rockets don't really have a direction without him ... FVV , KD , AMEN ,.JABARI and who we trade.sengun for ? Not seeing a lot of fan buzz for that one

Though if we let the Knicks take Udoka, the Spurs might've won a chip...

When is it officially the next NBA season @BimaThug ?

Is it true that KDs contract goes down from 54 this year to 43 next year ? Sportrac seems to say so . That's potentially huge for the number of players we can get with him

New season starts on July 1. Yes, KD's salary drops down in the new league year.

It would appear you do in fact need a top 10 player to win a championship..

    Knicks - Brunson
    Thunder - SGA
    Boston - Tatum/Brown
    Denver- Joker
    Golden State - Steph
    Bucks- GA
    Raptors - Lenard
    Cavs- LBJ
